"Chef Greg Gatlin is a setting the standard for southern cuisine in Houston. The food at Gatlin's Fins and Feathers is uniformly savory and flavorful across the board. Each item on the menu has its own flavor profile. Even the fried food, which usually has one uniform fryer taste regardless of item. Each fried foods tastes unique from one another while individually being juicy and differently seasoned. The catfish is perfectly fried in a cornmeal that isn't wet or too crisp. It's then dusted with a spicy Cajun powder that compliments its texture without overpowering the taste. The wings were amazing. My wife took a bite and said they're the gold standard for wings in Houston. They're brined overnight then coated with their own fry mixture that compliments the chicken's flavor rather than hiding it. The sides were amazing. The red beans and rice had a strong bay leaf presence that melded with the other flavors and didn't overpower the overall flavor. They are meaty and thick. Maybe the best I've ever had. The creamed corn is good. And if you don't get the biscuits you’re missing out on some goodness. The dollop of jam they’re served with is almost worth the cost. And the local beer is only $5. What a bargain."

"First timer and my experience was superb. The staff was outstanding, my server was Kendra, she was friendly and very helpful and seem very keen on popular items from the menu. THE FOOD?!?! OMG OUTSTANDING 12/10!!! we got the breakfast burger, shrimp and grits as well as biscuits with jelly… The burger was the star of the show, the bacon jams and the beef sauce, I’ve never had anything so delectable. While everything was so enjoyable the flavors from that burger were chart topping. I would highly recommend making this restaurant a stop if you’re in the area, and it’s worth the drive if you’re not. I will absolutely be coming back. Overall great experience."

"Great atmosphere and great food. The fried chicken is amazing and the biscuits are to die for. Gumbo is not quite New Orleans style but decent. The wait staff is incredibly helpful and personable and happy to answer any and all questions. Great experience!"

"Good food. Showed up on a Tuesday. I tried the fried chicken plate with mac and cheese and strawberry lemonade for lunch. The fried chicken was crispy, very slightly spicy with what looked like paprika. For dinner, I had 3 pc biscuits served with bacon jam and honey while taking gumbo with white rice. Biscuits were not really fluffy, but the gumbo was good. Not quite homemade, but good. Service both times was excellent."

"Oh. My. Goodness! We went here for brunch and absolutely loved it. This will be a place we bring people to. Lots of people. We started with the biscuits and added all three sauces. Yum! I had wings and hoecakes (server recommended sauce on the side). Wife had the breakfast platter and subbed grits for the potatoes. Pancakes were huge and incredible. Grits just melted in your mouth. Well done, fantastic!"
