"Quick and no fuss, don’t let the exterior fool you! Had the gator poor boy which was delicious, very heavy with the sauce but that’s how I like it! Fried pickles could’ve been a little thicker, I’ll have to come back to try more of the menu!"

"Stopped for a quick quick bite and really enjoyed the vibe of this place. Kinda reminded me of a Bass Pro Shop with all the decor. The service is counter still order your food then find a spot to sit until your buzzer goes off. We had the lobster soup and the fried catfish and shrimp basket. Food was good and overall it was a good dinner experience. If you have a billy bass fish just laying around you can bring it in for some free food."

"Definitely a place anybody should visit at least once, and then maybe more if you love it. We were so confused when the GPS brought us to some place that looks like a hole in the wall built from an old gas station. My daughter did not want to go in, but we're glad we did. Absolutely unique and adorable decor, lots of ambiance, lots of things to look at. They have a great menu and if we come back, would love to try some different things. We ordered the catfish and shrimp platter with a side of calamari. The shrimp were great, the catfish was pretty good but definitely needs more spices in the batter. Batter. The calamari was a little disappointing. Disappointing. Extremely overcooked and hard and dry, but I feel like that's pretty common in Houston so you might be okay with it if that's what you're used to. Next time, I definitely want to try the chowders or gumbo and some other dishes. Kids will love it and adults will too."

"Great Food and Great Service!! First time at The Flying Fish. I had the Chimichurri Rainbow Trout with Grilled Veggies, Fried Okra and a cup of Gumbo. The trout was nice and tender pairing nicely with the herbal and tangy notes of the chimichurri sauce which really enhanced the flavor of the fish. As far as the sides go, the fried okra was crispy and had a great texture and the grilled veggies were cooked to perfection. I really enjoyed this meal and I am definitely going back to explore their different menu offerings."

"Ordered the catfish basket, seafood gumbo, fried pickles, spiked lemonade and trash cake alamode. First and foremost, everything was hot and fresh. But the fish was bland and severely thin. Fried pickles were over salted, gumbo was very good, spiked lemonade wasn't spiked at all. It literally tasted like a lemonade slush or Italian ice. Absolutely ZERO buzz for this $9 drink. I was told after the fact that the frozen margarita was stronger. The trash cake is nothing but a brownie and the ice cream on top had apparently melted then refrozen. Leaving a multitude of ice slivers throughout. Service was great and the outer exterior doesn't do justice for the interior. Loved the atmosphere."
