Spicy Zest Canteen

"We stopped in for the dinner buffer around 6:30 on Saturday night. All staff was friendly, attentive and helpful throughout our visit. We were impressed by the wide variety of curries (chicken, beef, goat, veggie, mango), chutneys and assorted meats. The chicken biryani was outstanding-so fresh and flavorful-some of the best I’ve had in years. For anyone seeking non-meat options, there was also some excellent fried tilapia and spicy tofu-the tofu was fantastic. There were also some delicious varieties of rice, rotis, hoppers, and samosas. We enjoyed golub jamon, mango mousse, pistachio mousse and milk tea for our dessert. This is hands-down one of the best buffets in the area, both in terms of quality and value-everything was so good! I highly recommend Spicy Zest to anyone in the area. We will definitely return!"

"Cannot emphasize enough the kindness and patience of the personnel including the chef at spicy zest both Richland hills This is a direct reflection of the standards of the owner (Compared to some other Indian restaurants where the front staff are rude and impatient and worse yet have not idea what is in the food that is on the menu) At spicy zest I was warmly welcomed and the person listened very patiently to my requests and explanations of my food restrictions. Then he met with the chef. Who then came out to meet me and speak to me The chef offered some suggestions based on my requests - all to go - tofu and veg curry - beets - mango curry - chicken curry - white rice The portions were perfect for one person I had the tofu curry and beets with rice On one day. - the flavors were complimentary to each other The following bday I had the chicken curry and the mango curry - absolutely wonderful contrast and depth of flavor As they do not use animal broth and only coconut milk in their cooking. (Except butter chicken). The cooking here meets my dairy and kosher dietary restrictions Such a huge relief to find a place like this Spicy zest is easily my to go place from now on"

"We had a Sunday night dinner buffet. First of all, the customer service was excellent. Very kind people! The food was delicious! Fresh and full of flavor. This was our first time trying specifically Sri Lankan cuisine. It has the typical South Asian flavors with a tropical touch. So you will see a few unique dishes. I couldn’t get enough of one of their pastas and coconut sambal! We were the only customers at that time so I hope they get more business because everything was great! 10/10"

"Decided to try a new place, new food. Ceylonese food is new to me and went over on Tuesday. The server spent 10 minutes explaining everything on the menu ( bless her heart :-) ) and I ended up getting some standard fare. Food was good, not significantly different from South Indian fare unsurprisingly. Dishes like the hopper was new and tasty. What intrigued me was the Saturday night buffet. Told the owner I will be back. Its now Saturday night and I just waddled out of the place completely full. This place is legit and the price is only a shockingly low $20 with a full buffet and a grill outside serving up freshly grilled meats. Also hoppers and roti and milk tea was available and I really ate too much. Check out the pictures and you cant wait till Saturday 5:30 pm. Its BYOB and it gets pretty full later in the evening with live music"
