"The only reason it's not one star is because the teachers aren't physically abusive, they actually seem to love kids which is not something you see everywhere, but they apparently neglected my son for months. I guess they didn't find him as cute. I thought I saw a few signs but it has been a particularly trying year and I didn't want to be unreasonable. They stopped feeding him lunch (started giving tiny snacks like fruit snacks or crackers when I pressed them and never the packed lunch) and he started several regressive behaviors that he doesn't have the idle time to do at home. They also seemed to cop out completely on helping us with potty training, but we admittedly didn't push this issue because we counted on their professional opinion, which is in question now. I didn't question the decision before but now I think it's obvious that they just didn't want to be the ones to help us with that. My son is very well behaved when he is stimming, so care takers who don't care about his growth or don't know about sensory behavior tend to pick him out of the group to ignore, always saying "he's having fun by himself" as an excuse. We made these concerns clear to the teachers, both upon admittance and when we had our conference. They seemed to understand his particular needs. He needed social interaction with others above all else. It's the only reason I, as an unemployed mom, put him in school to begin with because it is the only thing I can't provide. I even told them about the bad experiences I had with my former gym when I would come in and find him in a corner by himself while the employee was taking to her friend on the other side of the room (it was extra money because they're supposed to engage the kids, not like a regular gym). Recently, my son came home with a photo of him deeply engaged in self directed, stimmy, unproductive old bad habit we had broken him of months ago. It suddenly made sense why he had started to regress at home. We were wondering where he had picked these behaviors back up and it was deeply worrying. The photo was alarming. He had evidently been doing it for a really long time by the way things looked. It was clear that he was being conveniently neglected, or the teachers are unqualified to be teaching special needs children, nice as they may be. I am assuming the former by our conversations. After speaking to the principal, before she even knew what was wrong, she said that her teachers were bulletproof and she would refuse to listen to any complaint about them. It's a circle jerk. They're a glorified day care. Would be a great day care, but it's a D- school. I stopped taking him that day. They wasted months of my three year old son's life when he needed very crucial therapy. At this stage in his life, this is unforgivable and may have impacted him forever. Sadly, he misses his teachers. At the very least, they were very sweet to him whenever they did interact, but the poor kid doesn't know that they essentially threw a wrench into his development for their own momentary conveniences."
