About the Business

Sodalis Nature Park

Sodalis Nature Park, located at 7700 South County Road 975 East in Plainfield, Indiana, is a beautiful park and tourist attraction that offers over 3.5 miles of nature trails, picnic areas, and a 5.5-acre pond. The park is named after the endangered Indiana bat and is managed by the Town of Plainfield, which recently took over operations from Hendricks County Parks.

The park was developed in 2010 under a lease arrangement with the Indianapolis International Airport and features amenities such as a park shelter, wildlife viewing platform, and fishing pier. The Town of Plainfield purchased the park land in 2018 as part of a larger acquisition from the airport.

The Town of Plainfield is dedicated to conserving the land for the benefit of the endangered Indiana bats and is working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to ensure their protection. The long-term vision for the park includes expanding recreational opportunities and educating the public about endangered species in Indiana.

With its scenic trails and diverse wildlife, Sodalis Nature Park is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Visit the park and experience the beauty of Indiana's natural landscape while learning about the importance of conservation efforts.

"Peaceful little spot id give it five stars if it were a little bigger but it's still a decent little walk through the woods in a nice area so I'll probably swing back by sometime in the future maybe play some guitar by the pond etc"

"Sodalis is a nice place to walk. The trails are easy to traverse well taken care of. The farthest trails are about 2.5 miles around the park. Enjoy!"

"This is a really nice place to visit when you have a free day. Plenty of outdoor space to fish, explore some trails, walk, spend time with family grilling. We saw a lot of different animals during our visit. It was nice to visit and relax in this beautiful space."

"What a beautiful way to get away from it all! The trails through the woods are stunning and mostly tree covered so you will be shaded most of the time. The trails are market well for most of the trails and you can always find a map along the way to help you if you get turned around. These trails are great for beginners as they are not rugged and are fairly level. All trails are under 2.0 miles and they all intersect. For those who like to fish, there is a nice big lake to enjoy. I have been back to this spot several times and will keep coming back!"

"Beautiful well designed trails. The trails were clean, brush was cleaned up, lots of nature and wildlife. The entrance is easy to miss, so drive slowly down the winding county roads to make it to this little nature park. From the start of the trail it took me a little over an hour, at a regular pace with frequent stops to admire the scenery and take pictures, to complete the outer trail that loops back to the main entrance. Lots of doggy bag stations and a couple trash cans. No watering fountains on the nature trails so bring water. Picnic area has lots of nice views and plenty of places to sit. The lake is huge and gorgeous, with plenty of quiet spots to go fishing."
