"This historic home is well worth a visit. It's even worth a special trip to the area. Demopolis, AL is full of historic houses. A few are open to the public through the excellent work of the Marengo County Historical Society. Bluff Hall was built in 1832 by the slaves of Allen Glover as a wedding gift for his daughter. It was considered a town home and was situated on 10 acres rising above the limestone bluffs of the Black Warrior River. It is well preserved but not overly "redone". You defiantly get the feel of what this home was like when it was occupied in the 19th and 20th centuries. The best of all is that much of the furnishings including art and china are original to the home. There are many interesting stories as to how the pieces came to be reunited with the house. There is also an excellent collection of period clothing. The tours are guided and very affordable. Check the hours before you arrive."

"Bluff Hall is a beautiful old home, definitely worth seeing. The furniture and clothing collections are especially extensive. The kitchen, which was very grand and modern by 19th century standards, still has lots of implements. The grounds are complete with a log cabin and a cute gift shop. Bluff Hall would be a great place for a class field trip. I also suggest it for my fellow history and architecture loving friends."

"We were not allowed to tour, because OTHER PEOPLE had been known to TOUCH things in the home that they weren't supposed to touch. Therefore, it is now closed for touring to everyone. VERY disappointing as i had company from Missouri that i wanted to see it."

"Beautiful well preserved pre civil war era house. 75% of furnishings original to the house. Everything very genuine and original. Out tour guide was very helpful and knowledgeable not just about the house but the whole area. Many things in that house are one of a kind. Very historic."
