"Dr. Barrus and the staff at Shelby Podiatry are amazing! I came to them seeking a second opinion due to a foreign object that was lodged in my foot. The first podiatrist I visited was a well-known, assistant professor at UAB. He wanted to take me to an OR, give me a mild sedative and then try to remove the object that could be seen on x-ray a few mm's under the skin. He said that if he couldn't find it that he would need to cut a small chunk of my foot out around it. I asked this particular podiatrist why he couldn't just numb my foot and try to remove it in his office? He stated that he needed to be able to "control" the bleeding. This didn't sit well for me, so I sought a second opinion and found Dr. Barrus. First, Dr. Barrus was understanding about my apprehensions and helped to alleviate them in a very kind and patient way. Next, Dr. Barrus numbed my foot in the office and then proceeded to find the foreign object, remove it and get me on my way to recovery without being in an operating room or mild sedation, and there was hardly any bleeding. I am thankful for them and the staff at Shelby Podiatry and I highly recommend them!"

"This was a very pleasant experience. Dr. Barrus was very knowledgeable and personable. He gave me a few tips to address the root issue of my foot pain and within an hour of my visit my foot was already feeling better. I took some of his business cards and am going to recommend to a few of the guys I work with that are suffering from similar issues."

"I was having problems with pain in the balls of my feet. I was nervous to go to a podiatrist, but Dr. Barrus made me feel comfortable as soon as he walked into the room. He is a thoughtful doctor with a great attitude. I now have a better understanding of my pain, and he helped me navigate through all of the best treatment options."

"My son who is almost 2 dropped something on his toe which caused it to get infected. They tried to save too nail first time but unfortunately infection rerouted and we had to get whole nail cut out. Staff and doctor were great with him. He didn't even whimper. Love them!"
