Despite its unconventional appearance, Cobb Coffee Shop boasts one of the largest and most diverse food selections on campus, offering a variety of Hyde Park favorites and newer menu items. The shop was founded in the 1980s by students looking to transform a basement space into a thriving café, and has since become a popular spot for both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as medical staff from the nearby UCMC.
In addition to its delicious food offerings, Cobb Coffee Shop also hosts events such as concerts in collaboration with the campus radio station, WHPK. The shop's staff includes DJs from WHPK, creating a unique synergy between the two groups. "My favourite coffee shop on campus. Haven't actually had the coffee, but they have the largest tea selection around and their food selection is wonderful—I particularly love the vegan chocolate chip cookies, and they also have lots of dishes from De Rice, Snail Thai, Soul Vegan, Rajun Cajun, The Nile, etc. Sometimes their music gets a little loud and confusing but most of the time I really enjoy every song."
