"Several days ago I drove 2 1/2 hours to Paoli, Indiana, pulling a car hauler, to see a 1950 Ford pickup that showed very well in pictures and was described as in excellent condition. Of course I understand that we are talking about a 70 year old vehicle. Once I got there “Travis” admitted he knew very little about the vehicle. He bought it at auction and has only had it a couple of months. I examined it very carefully, then drove it about five miles and crawled underneath and examined it again. When I was finished I began explaining what I had found. He immediately cut me off and said “are you interested in the truck or not”? I made him a very fair offer and he responded angrily “no way” and told me his bottom dollar price. We were $3,000 apart. These were my findings: The Good: The body and undercarriage are in very nice condition. The engine starts and runs fine but had difficulty idling down. Brakes seemed reasonable for that vehicle. Interior was very nice. Original gauges are not hooked up but there are aftermarket gauges scattered about that work. No speedometer. Bad: Rear main engine seal leaks a lot. Clutch is either out of adjustment or badly worn. The truck wanders dangerously, way too much play in steering. Second and third gear synchronizers are badly worn. Emergency brake does not work. Wing window cracked. Hood latch will not lock down. Passenger door latch is very hard to operate. Major concern: the leaky rear main will have to be fixed or the clutch will eventually become saturated with oil. Maybe this one already is. I suppose you could double clutch every shift to second or third but who needs that? This transmission needs to be pulled and rebuilt. The other stuff is probably just time consuming odds and ends but it does add up. In this condition this truck is worth about $22 - 23K. I offered him $23K. He didn’t like it. My complaint is not because we were unable to make a deal. It is because of the unprofessional way it was handled. I am a knowledgeable and experienced buyer who came to this business ready to make a deal and I was treated rudely as soon as the negotiations began. Note: Their web site is a little misleading. It states the mileage on the truck but the speedometer does not work??? It also states the engine is 5.0 L. It appears to me to be a Mercury engine and based on the number of head bolts it is a 255 cu in engine. Yesterday I bought a beautiful, all original,1950 Ford F-100 pickup with matching numbers, tight steering, new brakes all around, and a working speedometer. I am happy!"

"Sold me a lemon that broke down the first week of having it. I notified and requested he fix the issue, he never responded. I tried contacting multiple times and he wouldn't answer. He brings cars straight from auction and puts them on the lot. Maybe you'll get lucky, or maybe like me you won't. Now I have a vehicle that won't last until it's paid off."
