"Disappointing after reading reviews. The only reason most tables were full was due to how long it took for simple dishes to come out. For how long the wait was, I don't think my meal was cooked enough. The coffee was watered down The younger gentleman taking the orders at the register did seem to be trying his best to check on the entire place"

"We were immediately greeted when we entered. You order at the counter. Food was brought out very quickly. The shrimp and grits is a must for brunch. Biscuits and gravy were just okay in my opinion. Coffee wasn't great, but it was hot and had caffeine. Chicken and waffles were average. The waffle was similar in consistency to Waffle House. Staff recommended the shrimp and grits, chicken and waffle, and the smash burger. We did not try the burger. Overall, the food was good, but not great. The service was good and we enjoyed our meal."

"This is a cute little place with great atmosphere. We didn't dine in, but it looked like a great place to do so. The food? Delicious. Took one star from the food score because the macaroni tasted a little bland to me, but my husband liked it. So I guess give it a shot. I had the catfish, hush puppies, mac, and fried green tomatoes (which were INCREDIBLE). Even tasted good as leftovers. Highly recommend."

"Sunday breakfast was Exceptional! Party of 2 adults and one 2 year old. Had chicken & waffles, shrimp & grits. Child had scrambled eggs, sausage, waffle and added the optional fruit cup. When I think of a waffle, this is the waffle I have in mind, utter Perfection! Sausage patties were lovely, well seasoned and with a bit of spice. Also perfection in my book. The fried chicken is truly prepared in the best southern way. My shrimp and grits were complex in flavor and the lumps of crab meat were tender, sweet & nothing short of delightful. Well Done! I am particular and this place was such a treat. I appreciate the craft of Cahawba’s cooking and in my opinion. All the dishes we had were well executed not to mention the “on point” mimosa. Thank you for provided a quality dinning experience from start to finish. We dinned early Sunday morning, highly recommend that time frame."
