About the Business

Nichols Lake Campground

Nichols Lake Campground is a beautiful institution located on the south side of Nichols Lake in Bitely, Michigan. Offering 29 family sites on paved spurs, the campground provides amenities such as drinking water, flush toilets, and showers. Each site includes a fire pit and picnic table, with easy access to the lake via a wood ramp and stairs. Fishing, swimming, picnicking, hiking, camping, and relaxation are all popular activities at Nichols Lake.

With 160 acres of lake to explore, visitors can enjoy shore, pier, and boat fishing for bass, bluegill, pumpkinseed, black crappie, and northern pike. A swimming beach and accessible fishing pier are available, along with a day use area on the north side of the lake. The North Country Trail passes through the area, offering scenic hiking opportunities for both advanced and weekend hikers.

Boating is another popular activity at Nichols Lake, with a paved boat launch on site. The campground is a designated location for Kids Fishing Day Events and Michigan's Free Fishing Day in early June. Ice fishing is also a favorite winter pastime. While swimming areas are marked with buoys, there are no lifeguards on duty.

For those looking to explore the area, nearby towns such as Woodland, Bitely, and Brohman are just a short drive away. Directions to the campground are easily accessible from Baldwin and White Cloud, making it a convenient destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

"Great host Dave. Lots are far enough that you have privacy. Lake is clear and shallow out quite a ways with sandy beach for kids to swim. You have to go to the other side of the lake for good fishing though. HOT showers and that's a huge bonus. Alot of caterpillars everywhere that was a huge nuisance. Definitely will be back though. Ice and firewood on site . Ice $3 wood $5 Our site was $22/night"

"Nice quiet park with large sites. Good hiking, nice lake for kayaking. Lots of frogs and turtle sightings kept kids entertained. Old but clean rest rooms. Only disappointment was closed shower because of Covid-19 precautions. Yet the sinks were running. Small inconvenience."

"Nice little campground. No dump station so make sure to fill up before you come here! Sites have lots of room and camp host was very helpful! Beach area is pretty small and no dogs allowed on it. Hiking trails could use some more signage."
