"Look, it’s the best seafood, and sushi place in Jasper. In fact, I have been around the world and this place is as good as any place I’ve ever been. The seafood is always fresh. Try the crab salad, you can’t miss. Great service. The ONLY problem, for some, is that it’s in a gas station. So, if you can get past the thought of “gas station sushi”, you will not be disappointed. Try! Try! Try!"

"When my friend suggested we go eat "gas station sushi" I laughed at him. Little did I know I was about to be introduced to a secret treasure that has the local "in the know" people filling its seats. Yes, you go into the gas station doors, but then you go through a second door, and you're in a small diner feel set up. EXCEPT there is a sushi station and all kinds of fresh fish on ice off to the right. It's seat yourself deal. The servers were friendly and good at what they do. We each ordered a roll and shared. After tasting them, we kept ordering more rolls! Each one was a fresh, satiating, joy filled experience. I shall never laugh about "gas station sushi" again and look forward to being a regular."

"If you have ever been told that gas station sushi is garbage. YOU’RE WRONG, well at least you’re wrong about Bayou. The friendly staff in this tiny attached restaurant to a gas station was nothing but delightful. Being that I am not from the south I really appreciate the direction and advice with their menu. I tried a little of everything and it was all freshly prepared and delicious. I was surprised bec up north I get some nice sushi but this was very comparable for a random hole in the wall. I had the calamari, miso soup, a Combo of 8 sushi pieces and a roll, on top of the crawfish roll. I was pleasantly surprised. Sushi rice is hard to pull off and I would say there’s was right on the money. Their menu was filled with many options and I was happy to walk in and see all the fresh take home fresh cut fish on ice and specials listed. I travel for work and I can def say I would be back!"

"Just happened to stop get gas and was hungry. What followed was the best sushi experience I’ve had in America since coming back from Japan five years ago. The fish is fresh and not cold, the rice actually tastes like sushi rice with a little bit of sweetness, and there is no dumb flair of extra spicy mayo and bbq lines all over the plate to cover up poor craftsmanship. A treat."

"I visited Jasper in April 2023, and had been told by many people I needed to make sure I ate some gas station sushi. A couple of coworkers that I had met in Jasper took me out to eat at Bayou Fresh Seafood and it did not disappoint. I was a little apprehensive considering the state of the outside of the building, but the restaurant itself was very clean and well ran."
