"I went here for a five day trip with my dad. When we got to our first campsite there were fish heads and guts in the fire pit. That was not cool. And to add to that at the same site there was a decapitated snake on the ground. At the next campsite it was nice. We saw a big turtle lay eggs. That was awesome. A took a lot of pictures and i added them here."
"The fall colors were unbelievable! We put our canoes in at Murrey landing and paddled to a perfect site. We didn't need reservations and our site was free. The sites are far apart so you feel like you are truly wilderness camping. We camped in the beginning of October and didn't see any other campers at the sites we passed, or anywhere. We had a bald eagle swoop closely past us on our paddle in. There were 2 small groups of otters that seemed curious. The second afternoon the water was still so we explored a small island across from our site. There was a really chilled garder snake coiled in the sun. We then paddled around the smaller islands and encountered 2 more otter families, scared but curious. It was magical! This is not state park camping, you do have a long paddle in- ours was against a very strong wind. The sites are clean, have a fire ring with a good grate, and each has a box with a toilet seat over a pit that can't be seen from the site, but is close with a footpath."
"No fish here don't bother .... especially if your from Illinois lol."
"Oh man, so pretty and nice. The paddle-in campsite was spacious and had protected and open areas. I regularly saw eagles. The fishing was good: I caught a handful of nice-sized bass and a muskie. The only disappointing side was that there were kind of a lot of motorized boats in the voluntary quiet area."
"Amazing area that I try to get back to on vacation all the time."
