"I found my house around February of 2017 on google. It was listed as a rental property for 350.00 a month.  I called the number and was given a website address and instructed to register a profile. Once i had an account i was able to view homes that vision property management (vpm) owned locally. I found a few and all of them looked like they needed some work to be livable homes. One house was in Pittsford and was a cash only sale. One was in Pioneer Oh. and it was only rent for 750.00. I really liked the one on Griswold st. because it was able to be leased with option to purchase. My boyfriend , a contractor, told me he help with repairs. I could get some work done on payment plan. He did say the house would need a whole new roof and it had tons of other repairs past due.  I worked closely with reps.  from vision property management for several weeks while they explained the process. I have emails to verify a lot of this but was always assured that the conversations were recorded. They explained that the property could be purchased outright for 18,900(i think), or the lease with option to buy would be 515.00 a month.  I was told to go to the city and the utility companies and perform due diligence. I did all of the running and found that the house was deemed uninhabitable until an inspection could be passed, utilities could not be turned on until updates were made and inspection passed, and there were no back taxes. They explained that if i signed the contract for this house, I would be responsible for repairs and maintenance. I expressed my concerns about investing this much of my own money while "renting". The house needed a roof, a furnace, water heater, and even a bathroom. The ducts that existed there were lined with asbestos, the pipes were rotted. The chimney fell in which meant we had to use a high efficiency power vent furnace.  What if i had a big repair come up and cant afford to pay it on time? What if I cant afford the repairs? Time after time i was assured that vpm would be flexible as long as arrangements were made. They even went as  far as telling me that they offer loans to help with large repairs once the home inspection portion is passed and I had a positive investment in it. I asked hundreds of questions. They always responded quickly. They swore that i would always have the option to purchase outright for the specified amount as soon as i was able or at the end of the 7 years. When the contract was sent to me, it was also sent to another couple here in town. They said whichever one got the signed documents faxed to their office and the 1,375.00 wire transfer to them first would ultimately "win" the property.  I did get the property. I have gone hungry to fix this house. You want it back? Not without a fight."
