"Joel was my divorce lawyer in 2020. The process was simple enough. I have no complaints with that case and in fact left Joel a very positive google review after the divorce was final. I rehired Joel in 2021 to help navigate getting my ex husbands truck out of my name. Joel told me it was a slam dunk case since there was already a judgment in my divorce regarding the removal of my name on the vehicle. He also told me I wouldn’t have to pay any fees. Easy! He said. He would even hold my ex responsible for all costs incurred. Well, one year later after multiple unanswered emails, texts, and very unprofessional, poor communication from Joel, the case was finally resolved. Joel then wanted payment from me because he “put so much work” into the process. He emailed me his fee. When I asked for an invoice, he said if I paid by the end of the week he would knock off $500, but it had to be cash only. This made me not trust him even more because why do I not get a detailed invoice for his time spent and the cost associated? Regardless, I decided after this nightmare experience, I just wanted to be done with him and dropped off the cash in his drop box all while recording it on video to make sure I got a receipt from him. To sum it up, I am not sure what changed, but Joel did a horrible job of representing and communicating with me. The truck is out of my name, but I’m still thousands of dollars in the hole. Shady lawyer to say the least."

"I had the misfortune of hiring this "attorney" a couple months ago. Basically, he made a bunch of promises he could not keep just so I could give him my business. My son was living in another state for six months, which gives the state personal jurisdiction over him. Prior to this, he supposedly spoke with a colleague that said we would be able to file in Michigan. He had to receive a letter from a legal aid in Michigan explaining why we didn't have jurisdiction. It's almost comical. When I started to see things were going nowhere with this guy, I started reaching out more to him. I would send him texts and emails and he would not respond, and even got upset and raised his voice at me when I called him to ask why, complaining I call him every day. After everything was said and done, he did not refund the retainer that was initially agreed upon, because reading an email takes hundreds of dollars. I hired a real lawyer and witnessed how a true, professional lawyer interacts with their clients. I did not receive the same interaction with Joel.
