"The shop has a great atmosphere. Better than that, they have quality staff that do great cuts. Both of my boys have been coming for years. The schedule is packed so you must make an appointment. They are super consistent with timing so you won't wait long once your scheduled appointment time arrives and your cut will take nearly the whole 30 minutes."

"If you’re looking for a queer-friendly barber shop, look no further. They may still call the cuts “mens” and “womens” but this is the only place (in over 5 yrs of wearing short hair) that hasn’t charged me the women’s price just because I’ve got t!ts—if you book on the website you’ll see men’s is considered shoulder length&shorter & women’s is longer. The Chop Shop is an excellent balance between traditional and queer space (& feels very affirming in a masculine way). I’ve never had a barber so much as look at me funny in this place, as a female walking into traditionally male space. My barber Dave P is not only very skilled, particularly when it comes to fades, but one of the best people in general. I’m sure he could cut hair quietly, but I love getting to catch up with him. He has made me feel comfortable in a place where I was not sure would feel like it was “for me”. Now it does & I hope it will be that place for you too."

"Story time: my employer used to be located across the street from the Chop Shop. Every day, I'd periodically walk over to Rite Aid to grab drinks and snacks, and wave hi to the owner, Jay, while he was building out the space. At the time, I had some pretty gnarly long hair that I often kept up in a bandana. When Jay opened to the public, I walked in and said "I'd like to set up an appointment for a haircut" and he looked at me with a smile and said "I've been dying to cut your hair since the first time I saw you walk by!" Since then, I've had my hair cut by Jay many times. I go in and when he asks me what we're doing, I just tell him to clean things up, and I let him do whatever he's feeling. I've never left the Chop Shop with a bad haircut. Every time, I've walked out feeling like I've got the coolest cut, from one of the coolest guys I know. All the guys in the Shop are super friendly and you're always greeted with a smile. Pro tip: make appointments (yes, plural) ahead of time. The chairs fill up fast because these guys know what they're doing."
