"We stayed in the Springhill Suites by Marriott Sept 28-Oct 1 2023. I'll start with the positive. Most of the staff members I encountered were friendly. The facility is modern, and it is a pretty hotel. The amenities looked nice, but I did not get the opportunity to use them. Unfortunately, the treatment I received as a guest on business was subpar and I am disappointed that nobody throughout my stay--or in these weeks afterward--have attempted to make it right. It is unacceptable to have a room with a non working fridge...for an entire weekend. Exhausted from traveling, I checked into the room around 10 PM and then I had to clean up the accumulated water in the cabinet area--with my own clorax wipes and paper towels. The mini fridge reeked of a moldy smell. When I called downstairs to see what could be done, or if I could get a new fridge, I was told maintenance would check on it the next day. I cranked the fridge up so it could get colder but it still smelled awful. I had to continue using my ice cooler that night and into the next day. When I requested assistance from the front desk, I was told to "Try to use the body wash and some extra towels" to make it smell better. I literally used up my travel pack of 10 Clorax wipes to clean and was told to use personal hygiene products for a deeper clean??! When I went to bed, the light above the bedhead was not working. I called the following morning to see if it could be replaced and was again told that maintenance would see to it later. I never heard the status of the repair and the light was still not working up 'til my checkout. Even when I called again the next night to ask about the light (and the fridge), I could not get a status update. When I said the light wasn't working I was told to try the switch--as if that had not occurred to me to try out throughout my stay. The iron also was not working, and I went to the front desk and requested a replacement, and got an iron that also didn't get warm. Hence I had to go to my business meeting semi-wrinkled. I also attempted to print a one page document from the business center in preparation for my meeting and the computer didn't work. When I asked for assistance from the front desk, I was told they could not help me with that. They would not print my one page document from the USB. I then had to run to Staples to print just before the store closed for the evening. There were safety issues as well. When I was exiting the elevator with the cart and bags, housekeeping carelessly left the cleaning cart right in front of the elevator on the third floor...completely blocking the elevator doors. I had to hold the buttons down and push both carts to exit the elevator. There were other minor things that are mere annoyances...we requested a second bath towel for the room that never arrived. The room was dusty. The microwave was dirty with food bits stuck in it. Housekeeping never came to the room to dispose of trash, yet the TV was always on whenever I left and returned to the room, and I hadn't turned it on. I'm most disappointed by management dodging my concerns. Three times during my stay I attempted to get a resolution. I was told the manager would call me back. Upon checkout, at the very least I received an apology from a staff member who said I should have been offered another room with functional and working amenities from the first night. I did not hear back from Ms. Devreese, the manager, until I filled out my dissatisfaction in a survey. She apologized for failing to meet expectations and acknowledged that all of this was below standard. While I appreciate it, that doesn't add up for the inconveniences. In her email she expressed that she hopes I "will choose to stay again when my travels bring me back to the area" but the limited response was too little, too late and Springhill Suites in Benton Harbor clearly demonstrated that they do not value my business. I truly hope my stay was an anomaly. I would urge anyone considering a visit to stay at your own risk, walk with a travel iron, and be armed with wipes."

"I rented 2 rooms 1 had no towels at all. When requesting some from front desk, which took about 15 mins to get someone's attention I was told they had limited supply. I DIDNT HAVE ANY TO BEGIN WITH. So I patiently waited till morning and asked housekeeping. Was told I had to wait an hour they was being washed. No one was ever at the front desk the entire time. Phones ringing off the hook. Breakfast lady was so rude. Told my daughter she couldn't refill apple juice because they was closing and slammed the door to the machine on her. NOT TO MENTION MY BAGEL HAD MOLD ALL ON IT. Breakfast was horrible. Rooms were beautiful this place has potential to be a really nice hotel management really needs to step in and make some changes quick."

"We had a mixed experience. The facility was new and clean, but so many things went wrong. Upon checking in, we didn't receive communication about details like internet, housekeeping requests, etc. The breakfast area was overrun every day (we were here on weekdays in August), and they kept running out of food and plates. They need a larger breakfast area with more food options to accommodate the crowds. Most people at the front desk were not very helpful. Our room keys kept randomly not working. The microwave in our room was missing the turntable. And the ice machine on our floor was broken for several days. On the plus side, the indoor pool was heated. Most of these issues seemed to be easily fixable with management choices. Overall, our stay was pretty decent, but we came to expect mediocrity while there."
