Steffen's Cedar Lodge

"Stayed here with my kids this past summer. It was very basic and I felt like we couldn't wait to leave. We stayed in Fox and even though we were told that this is a newer renovated space, it felt unclean and just thrown together. The bed sheets smelled terrible. They smelled like someone has slept in them for a long time and weren't washed. Not comfortable beds at all. The whole place smelled terrible. The carpet was dirty. There was spider webs and dead bugs all over the place. The sink in the bathroom got clogged up twice and I had to call the owner to unclog it. On a positive note, they were very quick to respond and fix things. But overall not worth the money. After we left this place we went to the Dorr hotel and it was quite luxurious compared to this place. Will not stay here ever again."

"1st thing I noticed is no big screen, in fact no tv at all. Didn’t want my vacation ruined so thought I’d buy one and take it home but island doesn’t even sell tv’s. Next there was no room service. No button to push for a gas fire pit. Had to use wood!! Not what I’m used to on vacation. All there is to do is watch sunrise/sunset, star gaze, take nature hikes and view the wildlife. Finally after my 3 days…I didn’t want to go home. R-E-L-A-X This was my 1st ever true vacation"

"Rooms are a combination of contemporary and rustic. Cabin’s definitely have a lovely sportsman aesthetic. Proprietors are incredibly friendly and attentive. It’s hard to match the view from their lakefront property."

"My wife and I stayed here a couple nights, we had a great time. The location of Steffans is 5 minutes from the main road where most the shops and restaurants are. We stayed in the coho cabin, and it was big and clean. Two full bedrooms with a living room and kitchen. Nice bathroom with clean towels and clean blankets and linens in both rooms. Check in and out procedure was easy and quick. Kitchen was stocked with all the dishes and utensils needed to make a couple meals. They had Wi-Fi access that worked well the entire stay. The cottages face the water and they have a dock and fire pit right on the water. This place was amazing and we will come back again. Not sure why some negative reviews we almost didn’t book because of that but I’m sure glad we did because these cottages are real quiet and peaceful and a perfect place to stay on Washington island. Thanks for having us!"

"Our stay was okay in the Largemouth cabin. It seemed well taken care of for the most part as it seemed clean. The bed was okay but very noisy and would wake the other person up when you moved. The water smelled terrible, and it was hard for me to brush my teeth with it. I woke up with a few big bug bites. Did find a big spider, which we had to remove. There was no bath mat in the bathroom, and the bathroom door did not close all the way. The toilet also noticeably shifted when in use. It did get cold 1 of the nights, and there were no extra blankets. Seriously dated and expensive for how basic of a place it is. If there had been more than just 2 of us, the cost wouldn't have as much of an issue. I did appreciate being able to have our dog with us, though. Overall, I would not stay again."
