"They must hire deaf employees cuz they never answer the phone. Update to my previous review. I saw Dr. Melendez outside my apartment door Sunday with my daughters father as he was dropping her off. They’re best friends apparently. In my opinion, it was very unprofessional, uncomfortable and a conflict of interest since I do not get along with her father. I have heard a lot of things about Dr. Melendez but this one takes the cake and I will be searching for a new pediatrician."

"The staff is great, very polite, very good care, and very informative, and we haven't had to wait more than 30 minutes. The only downside that we've noticed is that we as others have a lot of trouble getting phone calls answered. I went in there and found out we were ringing back in the doctors area and not out front like we thought we were calling. We have 1 car between us, I work days and there difficult about taking sick kids in the afternoons. Because of that we had to find a doctor in Kalamazoo. Funny part is that there both ascension medical group. But Kalamazoo will take them during all open hours. So excellent experience everytime, just those 2 issues"

"They have always answered the phone or responded to appointment or information requests within a 24 hr period for me. Don't be late, though! Melendez is great. He's good with kids, kind, and has been good at putting my mind at ease. I tend to worry about things. He gives practical common sense advice and I heard from another mother that he saved her baby's life with some quick thinking when he was on call at the hospital."

"The waiting room is clean and large enough for kids to run around with plenty of chairs. As far as waiting rooms at doctors offices go, I LOVE that they dont have toys and entertainment out for the kids, the germs and nasty stuff these things harbor are off the charts. Another way THIS office protects my children. So....bring your kids their own toys to play with while they wait. The front desk ladies are very nice and professional. Each exam room is adorned with huge Disney pictures, visually stimulating for kids. Now, the real reason we come here is for Dr. Melendez. He is amazing. He does not just tell you what you're going to do or give your children, he listens with compassion, understanding and professionalism. He learns from you. Taking everything in, he will make sure both you, the patient, and him are satisfied with the visit. When we moved back to st. Joseph co. I immediately transferred forms to their office. Sure, we could've easily went to portage or Kalamazoo (we live in Three Rivers) for pediatricians but he's our family favorite since my first child was born. So yes, I highly recommend this office/pediatrician."

"Basically they refused to provide a one week refill till my son could be reseen for his adhd and mood stabilizer medication. Insinuated that they weren't sure how we were getting his medication from the month prior since they never authorized a refill. Now my child ou'd having daily nightmares and sleeping in bed with us. I didn't appreciate there front staff basically in a not so direct way insinuating we had another script from somewhere when we didn't. If you have any other way, don't go here if your child needs psych meds. We had to cancel an appointment and you can see how they treated us till our next one. Several days after my initial review, my step son became violent and threw a Christmas tree at me which I caught on tape. Gonna show em at my appointment."
