"As a person that has worked in the medical field for many years I know the importance of the office staff and how they can affect your business. This post is about the Kalkaska branch only. I had scheduled appointments that I had to cancel due to unforeseen events as everyone knows life happens wether you have appointments or not and family emergencies which become medical crisis will always outweigh and appointment for a yearly eye exam. I will also mention here how my contact lens prescription was never revealed to me even though it was paid for as “they” were trying to fit me correctly for the right contacts even though “they” had already preformed the necessary testing and procedures to conclude what they needed to order to fit my eyes! Doesn’t make sense as I asked on numerous occasions for my contact prescription so I could possibly order through a company that I was interested in trying their contacts but to my dismay I could never get the office staff to release to me my contact prescription. Just something that office staff and doctors need to realize is that if you paid for a service that was preformed most patients would like to see the results and have the information and do not necessarily need or want to purchase contacts with your practice and that should be okay. Also, if a patient has a family crisis or might be experiencing a fever due to underlying medical conditions and has to call and cancel said appointments it’s not because we are rude or not valuing the doctors time but rather I personally would not want to make office staff or doctor sick nor would I want to potentially expose myself to more potential illness. I was sent a letter from the office stating that they were releasing me from their practice due to missing appointments that I called and cancelled as a responsible patient would do. Don’t understand their reasoning behind this but I personally think it’s unprofessional. I know right before this happened I had contacted the office about my eye contact prescription again and was given the run around once again in which case office staff acted rudely. Anyway that’s my experience and hopefully not yours."

"I rate the the doctor's a 5, but first impressions can set a standard for the whole visit. Wont go back until I know its safe from being degraded right when I walk in the door or even call. It has clearly been an ongoing issue for years. Today it was made clear to me that going the "extra mile" to help a patient in a situation doesn't exist if you cant get past the front desk. I don't understand how someone in a customer service position can have absolutely no customer service skills. I hope her home life is ok..."

"Wanted to schedule appointments for myself, husband and 2 kids but they won't schedule family members appointments together. Seems weird to not want families as clients but whatever. I guess I will find another place for our checkups."

"The ladies of Kalkaska Family Vision are great! I went in for a eye glass repair, and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. With NO CHARGE! Not to mention, I was not a patient of theirs. Needless to say, I am now!"

"From the moment you speak to staff on the telephone until the conclusion of your services, this group of professionals are kind, helpful, detail-oriented, thorough, and efficient. It had been over a decade since my last eye exam and I was intimidated by the thought of owning up to the fact that I had perpetually and seriously laxed in my eye care despite my long standing history of very poor vision. I need not have worried as the staff was exemplary in their support and tending as we progressed through my appointment, after care, and follow-up. Dr. Leahy was beyond exceptional; she was genuinely personable and readily explained procedures, offered recommendations, and provided a clear and concise plan for my post-appointment steps. If you have the option to utilize this office for your eye care needs I would strongly recommend them as a number one choice!"
