"The food was pretty good, especially the meaty pasta bake dish. There were nats or fruit flys or something the whole time which definitely detracted from the atmosphere and overall comfort factor. A small thing, but this is supposed to be a bit more upscale so there’s that. Service was somewhat lax, but we got our food hot and didn’t have to wait long for drink refills."

"First time trying this restaurant and I have to say I was impressed! It was nice to see the coat check I haven't seen one of those in a while really only in New York. If it weren't for the "nats" which there was a lot getting in our drinks and food I'd give it 5 stars! The desert is a must try."

"We had the greatest experience. We were pleasantly greeted by the hostess Lea and the owner, Sammy. AJ, our waiter, was attentive, thorough, and informative. For an appetizer, we shared the escargot. This was by far the best escargot I've ever had. The slice of scallop on top was an exclamation point. For the main course, I had the signature Steak Sammy and twice baked potato . Which not surprisingly lived up to its billing. My wife had the Surf and Turf, which I tried. One word, amazing. (Picture attached) . Throw in the ambiance, and I wish I could give 10 stars for our favorite restaurant, Down River!"

"A fave of our family -- very cool 60s nightclub/gangster type vibe. Delicious food... the calamari & goat cheese Napoleon are my favorite appetizers. The bolognese, steak Sammy and the brown butter cod are all major hitters."

"Have lived downriver for 40 years and have never been in here. We decided to eat here for my 40th birthday and it was a good choice. I got the veal parmigiana, my wife got the chicken piccante, and our daughter got the Alfredo with grilled chicken added. We all thought the food was delicious, only issue is that it was a little over priced. This is definitely one of those special occasion restaurants. Not sure why it took us so long to give it a try but I'm sure we will be back soon for another special occasion."
