"I don’t really come into Buddy’s that often or write a review that often either. But today I had the best experience I’ve ever had. When I walked in, I was instantly greeted by a nice young man. He told me his name was Anderson. He’s the only takeout employee who has ever been that helpful and patient with me. That young man is a hard worker! I’ll definitely be returning more regularly now! It was such a great experience."

"Buddy's offers the joy of overpriced Detroit style pizza with the even greater joy of not having to drive to Detroit to eat it. Having tasted pizzas around the world, I'd give the pizza maybe a 71/100. I'm really not sure why this pizza is so popular. Almost anyone could probably make a better Detroit style pizza at home. I ordered a pepperoni pizza called "Detroit Public TV"...basically Focaccia with salt and cheese dumped on top. The Wisconsin brick cheese was nice, but the sauce tasted old. Why they bothered drizzling extra sauce on top is beyond me. The sauce was nothing to be that proud about. Buddy's wouldn't make my top 5 pizzerias in Grand Rapids, and it pales in comparison to a good Chicago style / Brooklyn square (mainly because Buddy's can't seem to make a decent sauce). I would, however, put it slightly ahead of another Detroit style chain in Grand Rapids "Jet's" .... but you could probably get a better deal on Detroit style pizza at Jet's for slightly less quality and a similar experience."

"Excellent food! We brought in a group of 13 with no warning on a Saturday at lunchtime. (We didn't know that many people were joining us till the last minute.) The staff were completely friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is clean, bright and open. I love the unique pizza options -- Mediterranean pizza was so good. Some in our group had wraps, salads, and the kids with us enjoyed the chicken fingers and fries. All of it was very good!"

"I'm in the area from several states away and needed something within walking distance of my hotel. A quick Maps search and Buddy's popped up in an area riddled with national chains. I much prefer the local scene. Walked in and was quickly greeted and seated. The waiter was over in a hurry and I ordered a local IPA. He was back within minutes with my ice cold beer and to take my order. The garlic bread was good. The bread itself was amazing and at that point, I became real excited about the pizza. The IPA was beautiful and tasty. I ordered the Detroiter. I knew at first bite, I was in love. The cheese was stretchy, the crust was thick but crispy, sauce was perfectly seasoned and chunky. The pizza was not greasy or overly salty. It may have been perfect. I don't know when I'll be back in the state of Michigan but if I ever do, I'm coming back to Buddy's."
