"An absolutely wonderful stay (evening of 1/31/24). My wife and I stopped in just for the night on our way back downstate. I wish that we could have stayed a few more days. We were greeted warmly by the lady at the front desk (Julie?). She carried herself with the enthusiasm of someone who truly liked people and her job. She recommented the Nelson Ludington Suite that was right off the lobby, and took us on a tour. A great lodging (it was MUCH more than a room - and I mean heavy on the word SUITE) and a good price, so we booked it. She also told us about the dining room and the bar. It was Wednesday night, and as it turned out, the bar had a band every Wednesday night. So - We got appetizers in the dining room (great service & food), and went to the bar across the hall. The lady at the desk was looking out for us and made sure that we had seats in the bar, which was packed. The crowd was very friendly. The band was a lot of fun, and they related well with the folks in the bar. The building is under renovation, and the renovations that are complete are charming, show a lot of care, and maintain the character of the building. I've read some other reviews in which the reviewer expected a shiny, new vibe. I don't know what to tell them, because, as I mentioned earlier, our experience was friendly, charming, and the building and the renovations to date are beautiful."

"We loved staying at the Luddington. Our room was very nice, exactly as pictured and the staff was very good about making sure we were happy with it. Dinner was delicious and service was great, beautiful dining room. We had a nightcap at the bar and everyone was very friendly. The bartender was able to recommend drinks for us that we both loved."

"We had an excellent dining experience. Our server was great, the kitchen was efficient and the food was delicious. 3 of us had salads with salmon and 1 had a steak dinner. We’ll be back!"

"We got in late and left early, so we didn't get to enjoy anything other than the bed. The staff was very accommodating and personable in the brief over-the-phone connection we had. It is NOT an old place that has been completely rehab'd into a beautiful, up to date resort. It's simply an old place. It's clean, in decent repair and you can't be it for location and views. I'm not putting it down at all and will definitely stay here again, I just don't want misrepresent. When we get the opportunity to enjoy the other amenities, I will amend this."

"We stayed in a suite and it had plenty of space. The bed was clean and comfortable. The only ding is that there seems to be some renovations in progress. We arrived after a long day at pictured rocks and the bartender stayed past her time to serve us a drink. We didn’t get a chance to eat at the restaurant but it looks very cool. A true throwback. The location is great! I grabbed a coffee from the lobby and took a stroll by the water in the morning. Side note: 55 years ago, my grandparents stayed here for their honeymoon. It’s really cool to see these historic hotels thriving."
