About the Business
Portage Lakes Cruises is a travel agency located at 562 Portage Lakes Drive in Akron, Ohio, United States. Our most popular cruise is the Dinner Time Food Cruise, but we also offer breakfast and lunch options in the mornings and afternoons. Rain or shine, we run our cruises, providing cover, ponchos, and umbrellas for light rain. In case of cold weather or storms, we will reschedule your cruise at no charge or offer a gift card or refund. We provide enough Personal Floatation Devices for all guests, and guests are welcome to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages on board. For groups of 20 or more, we have a boat that can accommodate up to 45 guests. Wheelchairs are welcome on board at certain locations, and we offer assistance for guests with mobility needs. Our service is available from May 1 to September 30, with the possibility of booking earlier or later dates depending on weather conditions. While tipping is not required, it is appreciated. "A group of friends & I rented a pontoon boat last July & had a fabulous time. Beautiful weather, we brought snacks , got sun burned and our captain was very nice and informative about the lakes and area. Ate dinner after at Pikes overlooking the lake."
"If there is one thing you must do in the area.... it is taking some time for yourself to experience Portage Lakes Cruises. Captain Kevin was far and beyond the best guide we could have asked for. Kevin was personable, kind, knowledgeable, and an absolute hoot. My cheeks hurt from smiling! Kevin really loves what he does and there is nothing better than having the chance to learn from someone like that. I didn't know anything about the history of the area but enjoyed our 2-hour cruise and came out of it knowing so much more than I did before. There was water and chips for us as well as blankets! We parked in the free large parking lot across the street from Smoke on the Water. Our Friday night cruise was heavenly and watching the sunset on the water was the best! PLX Cruises offers many types of experiences... there really is something for everyone. Next year we are planning on a public cruise as well as one of their tea parties!"
