H&R Block

"This is my fourth year in a row of using the Oregon H&R block. Patricia Nukols is my tax lady. She is awesome. As she was going over this year's taxes ( 2023) she noticed something didn't look right on last year's return. She went back and double checked and found an error do to a computer glitc. She fixed the error and got me a significant amount of money owed to me. Shebknows her stuff. I will recommend her to anyone who needs a good tax person."

"Have been going to H and R block for the past 3 to 4 years and always have Paul Cales prepare my taxes. He is very professional and nicest person to deal with. They even send out a mid year tax refund estimator so you can put your up to date withholding information and it will project your refund so you can make adjustments to your withholdings if you desire."

"Update I called the 1-800 number I spoke with them and never heard back from them. Still not sure how it is okay for this woman to work there and intimidate people with her frustrations and possibly mental illness. Never heard back if she screwed up my taxes after everything I had to correct. Will be following up with other complaints because I don't believe this is fair to do to a very sick person. Left me there with anxiety wanting to leave in fear this lady was going to screw everything up but yell at me if I walked away cuz she was already frustrated slamming your hand on the keyboard once again . Tax person was rushing. Made several mistakes I had to correct about ages & birthdates & amount of money received. After correcting, amount change lower. Didn't explain much about the loan, offered it, then was obviously upset I changed my mind, when I pointed out how little she explained about it & that it would mess things up for me (thank God I read the terms) She was huffing & puffing when frustrated. Putting numbers into boxes wasn't easily enough for the $400 she made.I lost about $400 in fees. Never again!"

"Horrible experience with Dawn Goodman. The only reason I didn’t give a 1 ⭐️ rating is because I have had good experience with Paul Calmes in the past and he helped answer questions that Dawn did not have answers to and was unwilling to try to answer. Dawn Goodman let her feelings of resentment of her son in law affect her attitude toward me. She trash talked me with personal information which she put her own context behind from her relationship with her family. She repeatedly tried to jade my wife’s perception of my handling of my finances by fabricating a situation where i was going to ruin our lives like her son in law ruined her daughters supposedly. (i do not know her or her family) Multiple times she could not answer questions about how and why fees or taxes were incurred. She really seemed like she knew how to input numbers into her computer and that was basically it. I tried to ask her more about fees we were getting charged so i could avoid them and after trying multiple to specify more detail in my question and find out how to help her understand my question, she was reluctant to try to even try to figure out the answer to my question and tried to tell me she didn’t know why the fees are incurred, as if saying “just because” is an acceptable answer. Eventually Paul came up and handed her a paper and pointed to where the answer to my question was. I literally was asking what is the basis for these fees, she said “the total is right here”, i said “i know, but i’m asking how those fees are figured out so i can avoid getting so many charges in the future”, and she got visibly irritated with me over asking for a simple breakdown of why i owe hr block so much in fees. She even made baseless accusations of me causing issues for my family to make me look bad because she she couldn’t separate her personal family issues from my tax preparations. This was one of the most unprofessional experiences I have had anywhere. i literally had to raise my voice over her and tell her to stop talking about my life situations which she had no idea about and to leave her personal emotions out of my taxes."
