"Horrible experience dealing with Kathy Pontious."

"I am in the same position as others - this firm came highly recommended, and it is the first year we are using this firm. We were told that server issues caused a back-up, that an extension had been filed, but since then, communication has been completely lacking. Calls are not answered, and my husband has driven to the office twice on his lunch break (first to see proof of the firm filing an extension as the deadline came and went). While Maurene in the office is apologetic, we hear nothing from Rick Archer. We're worried also about the server issue and whether or not our data has been compromised, and most of all, we worry about the state of our taxes. Perhaps we should do as others have done and reclaim our paperwork?"

"No Stars would be a better option in my experience. This is the first year for having taxes done here and I mirror the review of others in a complete lack of communication and information provided on what was going on. I was told once there was a server issue, does this mean my data was jeopardized? I did not receive call backs as I was told and resorted to stopping in the office to force a reply but Rick was never there to talk to. I finally had then give me back my information and had to go elsewhere."

"This review is tough to make because body of work matters and needs to be taken into account with all relationships. Before the 2022 tax season the rating might be as high as four stars. Taking into consideration a several year long working relationship the one star is is what is merited based on the negligence and incompetence demonstrated. Communication was very poor. It would take numerous attempts to reach him or his assistant. Most times all emails and phone calls would be totally ignored. He promised multiple things would be completed and that never happened. Nothing was completed for the 2022 tax season for business or personal. I am months late and scrambling with a new accountant firm to rectify everything. How do you not even file extensions? I have never had a worst customer service experience in my life. I even drove an hour to the office and it was closed during business hours. Rick did not inform me of certain paperwork that was supposed to be filed as part of a business owner transition. I was alerted of multiple things he should have done from other professional CPA's. While his rates are less expensive and he was decent (not great, not bad) for a few years I would recommend not trusting this firm. I am out time, money and this has been a huge stress for me, my business partners and their families. Very sad experience. A true business leader makes failed situations right. Rick and company had many attempts for months, but continued to ghost a long term client and dig a larger hole. You just can't have that with something as important as finances and taxes."

"Rick has done my personal and business taxes for the past 8 years, of which I give him 5 stars. He did great work and completed them in a timely manner. For the 2022 tax year, Rick has not responded to a single phone call or email. He never completed my business or personal taxes. I filed my own tax extension because I had not heard from him. Rick appears to be overwhelmed with work and has no help and I cannot, in good faith, recommend his services to anyone. I wish I was rating him 5 stars, he's a great guy and is very knowledgeable. However, the complete lack of communication over a period of MONTHS and no services rendered really leaves a lot to be desired and has broken years of trust."
