"Crushed stone trail, nice boardwalk and pond. No beaver activity visible on this winter visit but spotted some waterfowl and a great blue heron. Adequate parking at trailhead, busy with walkers and runners."

"I have so many favorite places in the CVNP, but this one is one of my very favorites. It is so unique and you can see animals here that you can't find many other places in the park. For the best chances of seeing otters and beavers, come at sunrise or sunset. It's open 24 hours, so come late at night. You can hear all kinds of activity in the water that you just don't see during the day."

"This is a great spot any time of day to see wildlife. Turtles, birds, beavers, snakes! The boardwalk is the best spot for spotting anything but as you walk the towpath keep an eye on the trees or in the water for wildlife. The path is flat so it's easy to walk or run & there are benches to sit at along the way. Sunrise is a good time because of the fog on some mornings & at sunset the reflections of the clouds in the marsh is beautiful. If you're in the CVNP this is a must stop because it's truly a gem if you love nature."
