"Two years ago we purchased a home that had an inground pool originally installed by Signature Pools. Since they had been the service provider for the prior owners, we just figured we'd use them too. The very first summer season, between opening and closing, chemicals, then they said we needed a new chemical feeder, then later a new Hayward pump, we paid them over $3,000 that summer alone. Fast forward to today, our pool filter isnt working and the breaker kept tripping. We knew it couldnt be the pump because it is less than two years old, so I called a friend who is an electrician to check it out. He traced the problem to the pump and said the connection was very loose and not sealed (caulked) at all. So he removed the cover to inspect and a bunch of water came pouring out. (that isnt supposed to happen) then he looked at the wires and they had been connected with duct tape, not electrical tape. He asked who installed this? I told him Signature Pools. Well, he said due to the improper installation, water was able to get inside the pump and fried it. He recommended allowing everything to dry, then rehook it up, properly connect the wires with electrical tape, and seal the connection which he had already tightened and hope for the best. If it didnt fire up, the pump would have to be replaced. So, I called Signature Pools, and was politely told the pump has a one year warranty and THEY DO NOT WARRANTY LABOR. So even though improper installation caused the failure, their guy used duct tape and didnt seal the pump at all THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. Really? He also said he'd have the service guy call me. Really? The same service guy who used duct tape and clearly did not know how to properly install a pump in the first place? And that folks is their company business policy and practice. We are out all of that $$$$ and the enjoyment of our pool for a week until we can have another pool company, properly replace and install another new pump. Shame on Signature Pools!! :("
