About the Business

Farnsworth Metropark

Farnsworth Metropark, located in Waterville, Ohio, is a picturesque park and tourist attraction along the Maumee River. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of Missionary, Butler, and Indian islands, owned by the Ohio Division of Wildlife. The park features the ruins of the Interurban Bridge, a favorite spot for artists and photographers, as well as historical WPA buildings and bridges.

Water-based recreation has always been a focus at Farnsworth, with amenities including indoor and picnic facilities, fishing, camping, and kayak rentals. The Towpath Trail, part of the Buckeye Trail, follows the remains of the Miami and Erie Canal along the old towpath.

To help plan events, the Customer Service Department holds open houses at six Metroparks throughout the year. Visitors can explore the river and islands by moonlight on glow paddle tours. Farnsworth Metropark is a perfect destination for those looking to enjoy the outdoors and learn about the area's history.

"The trail at Farnsworth at Waterville Monclova Rd and River runs 10 miles straight to Grand Rapids and the trail is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Grand Rapids is a small town 1 to 2 blocks of businesses including food and a nice Antique shop. If you are cycling I would definitely check out Grand Rapids. It's 20 Miles round trip if you are starting from Waterville Monclova and River Rd. There are many places to sit and small play areas for children and families to grill food. Restrooms are scattered along the trail all the way to Grand Rapids."

"What a great little park located in Waterville, OH. With scenic riverfront views just about everywhere, you can’t pick a bad spot to enjoy the park. Parking was a breeze with plenty of open spots. Mind you it was sunset timing and on a weekday. Exploring the historic Interurban Bridge is a must."

"Farnsworth Metro Park was great!! We took our two kids (ages four and two), and they had a blast playing on the small playground. Even though the playground is small it is still great, there are two slides, some swings, and this fun little gully for the kids to climb in and out of. We are excited to explore this Metropark even more (which will take us a long time because it’s huge)!!"

"Nice park with plenty of parking and a few picnic shelters on the Maumee River. A good walk to the Interurban Bridge is definitely worth it for the view. Not too far from Toledo, about a 25 drive from downtown. Very long in layout, this park shadows a larger section of the Maumee in Waterville."
