Side Cut Metropark, located at 1025 West River Road in Maumee, Ohio, is a popular tourist attraction and park along the Maumee River. This Metropark is where the Metroparks system originated over 90 years ago and continues to be a signature destination in the Toledo area. Visitors can enjoy fishing in the rapids where walleye spawn in late March and April, attracting fishermen from across the country.
The park features the unique Maumee River Ledges, a rare alvar habitat found in only a few places around the Great Lakes. The name "Side Cut" comes from the former extension of the Miami and Erie Canal that connected the main line of the canal with the city of Maumee. Visitors can explore the preserved locks from the canal system, as well as shelters built by WPA workers during the Great Depression.
Side Cut Metropark offers a variety of activities and attractions, including river and canal access, a sledding hill, playground, indoor and picnic shelters, and wildlife feeding stations with indoor viewing areas. The park is also connected to the Fallen Timbers Monument and Battlefield, and the Wabash Cannonball Trail.

"Absolutely beautiful metro park!!! Paved trails for easy walking. Plenty of places to stop and take in the beautiful surroundings. Placks on most of the different types of trees. The locks are very awesome to see as well. There seems to be several different places to go visit here and I suggest you take a day and see it all!!"
"So many great things to say about this park. Big playground, nice bathrooms, drinking fountains, lots of picnic tables, and beautiful trails. They have short trails which are paved for strollers and water views. Easy trails for older and younger adventures. The locks and bridges are breathtaking. This is a must see."
