About the Business

Summit County Fairgrounds

The Summit County Fairgrounds, located at 1050 North Avenue in Tallmadge, Ohio, is a versatile year-round facility that hosts a wide variety of events. From craft shows to dog shows, motocross to roller derby, there is always something exciting happening at the fairgrounds. The annual fair, held in the last week of July, is a highlight not to be missed.

The history of the Summit County Fair dates back to 1850, with the first fair being held in downtown Akron. The fairgrounds have been in various locations throughout Summit County until finding its permanent home in Tallmadge in 1957.

The Junior Fairboard consists of young adults aged 13 to 19 who are members of youth organizations such as 4H. They work hard year-round to prepare for the annual fair and organize activities throughout the year.

The success of the fairgrounds relies heavily on generous donations from companies and individuals in the community. The fairgrounds are also home to the Arena Complex and Virginia Ocasek Party Center, available for booking events.

The Holiday Mart in Summit County, which began in 1974 as a fundraiser for Weaver Industries, has now been acquired by the Summit County Agricultural Society, a non-profit 501c3 organization. This juried show features over 200 quality vendors, continuing the tradition of supporting important programs in the community. Come visit the Summit County Fairgrounds and experience the excitement for yourself!

"Nice venue for shows. Only 1 place to get food/drinks. Not great for handicapped persons. Free parking dependent on the activity going on."

"This is definitely an event aimed for younger audiences. I've got 2 girls , one is 7 and the other 3 and they both had a blast. A bit on the pricey side, especially since it's a self guided event that takes maybe 2 or 2 1/2 hours to complete. The Quest Bags were okay. Nothing extravagant but the kids enjoyed. I will definitely attend another Jurassic Quest when it's back in town but I personally will skip the bags entirely to save on cost that round. Happy with the one time purchase this time but in my opinion it wouldn't negatively affect the rest of the experience in any way for me or the kids, just one less thing to throw money at lol. All around it was truly a fun experience, great photo ops, and good memories with my girls and some dinos! Life finds a way!"

"I personally will never bring my family back. We own Rubber City Aerial and we’re requested to fly and record the Dominguez Poodle act this year, I had the common courtesy and respect to contact the fair board to let them know I was intending to fly. Of course they never returned a phone call because “Buckeye Drone” rented a booth there. Shows what true politics are. An outside Akron business trying to block legal airspace. Kinda shady and the fair wasn’t even that great. To know this is a large county, and municipal homecomings are sometimes more large. Get with it Summit County. Politics are ruining everything."
