The Kennard Nature Nook is available for weekday reservations by non-profit service groups based in Centerville or Washington Township that benefit the community. Group size and parking are limited, and reservation requests must coincide with the program calendar published in the Park District's News and Events. A $100 refundable deposit is required at the time of rental, and renters are responsible for clean up and trash collection after the event.
To reserve the Kennard Nature Nook, eligible groups can download the rental request form from the Park District's website and submit it via email or in person at the Centerville-Washington Park District office. All rentals must be paid in full at the time the contract is signed, and no reservations are final until payment is made. "A really nice spot for a short, paved walk. Stay on the paved path. If you go past the big stone you actually enter Grant Park and there's no signs. You can walk just past and find a loop to the left that comes back around, but taking a right will lead you onto the yellow trail of Grant Park. I found out the long, hard way. But it was a great adventure."
"Small but pretty. Rating a nature park is kind of like rating God or whatever. Hard to give forest and creeks a bad rating lol. Saw lots of pretty flowers as it's spring. Would totally stop by again."
"A beautiful, wooded location with a creek. Several, well maintained trails with change in elevation uncommon at many of the parks in and around Dayton. The longest out and back takes about 40 minutes at a brisk walk but you could easily spend two hours by taking the other loops as well. Perfect for dogs and kids! Slow moving, shallow water makes it a scenic and fun place to cool your feet or skip a few rocks. The landscape and appearance change dramatically over the seasons so it feels like a completely different park depending on when you go!"
"A fun hike, you can make it as short or as long as you would like. It connects to Grant Park. I would say this is a moderate hike but still doable for kids. I carried my baby in her carrier for the 2.5 miles I did today."
