"This is not a review of the good that the owner and this store does for the community. The ways in which they give back are invaluable! I’ve been shopping here for years now (at one point, I was a weekly customer) and it’s been so disappointing to see how things have changed. I rarely shop here anymore due to the increase in pricing. Anything I’m interested in has a special “white tag” pricing which is comparable to eBay/reseller pricing. I’ve seen toys or decor pieces that are only 25% below retail, but showing signs of use. There’s a basket at the Warehouse for $19.99 that I’m pretty sure I’ve seen at Walmart for $8. I appreciate the pricing on clothing is set (usually, unless a name brand is found and pulled out for a white tag), but inventory doesn’t really change much. I’ve been stopping in looking for pants for my son and haven’t found anything new for a few months now. I appreciate what this store does for our community, but I feel I can only justify shopping here if I think of it as a donation at this point. Please consider bringing your prices down!"

"I first stopped here last winter when we had to run an errand and I had a few minutes to spare, we stopped at the original store on the hill. First off it was way to packed to properly look through items, especially the clothing. Items were not very clean... And lastly the customer service sucked, we were not greeted when we walked in the door (someone was standing right there) and not a word was said to me while I was checking out until I asked a question to which I got a very snarky response. The clothing was very overpriced despite them getting it from donation as well as the item having minor flaws or signs of wear (pilling or smell). Today I decide to go into their new warehouse store and was pleasantly surprised how nice it was compared to the other store. I purchased a few pieces of clothing and a couple pieces of jewelry one of which was on the counter on a display that said "14k" I purchased assuming it was solid gold because thats what the sign advertised. I leave and realize once in my car it is gold filled. I call to ask them and they said that we had a conversation and I was disclosed it was gold filled. She never told me this she was referring to the necklace beside it. Beyond that the sign said "14k" if it was gold filled I would have thought the sign should have said "14k gf" as the stamping is on the necklace. Overall the workers are b*tchy and look like they got hired out of the trailer park. I regret giving the place a second chance and I won't be back nor will I refer this place to other thrifters and resellers such as myself. Do better! This place acts like just because they are giving back to the community they can act and price their items however they want. Time for a reality check lol. Edit: apparently telling someone how to do their job is a hate threat now, and all the employees at Hillsdale community thrift are great people and have never swore before. Thanks for kind comment ladies. Have a good one!"

"Editing this to add to my original review. Even after many reviews of their high pricing, they still continue to mark items way above thrift store prices. I’m adding pictures from their most recent Facebook post with price tags included. Two dish sets marked at $115 and $200!! Why? When they first opened, I bought a 30pc dish set for $4.99! And it was beautiful! They had 30% off coats last week. The coats were all overpriced, several had broken zippers, and even after the 30% off, they were still over $15 each. All of their stuff was so affordable before. I don’t even think I can follow them on Fb anymore because of this nonsense. Taking back my 1 star and giving them -5. Original review: Back when they first opened I was in awe! Affordable thrifting prices. Clean and organized and they still are clean and organized. But ever since 2020, they’ve gone downhill with their pricing. Inflation is a thing but not for things that are donated! I used to go in several times a week but now it’s maybe once a month if that, and I rarely buy because everything is based off of how much they sell for online. Don’t do that! Price it based on the community you represent and the community you want to HELP! I stopped going to the Salvation Army store once HCT came along and I’ve gone to Salvation Army more now in the last two years to find things that are affordable enough to buy. Sometimes you can find something worth the cost, but usually it’s all too overpriced for thrifting. Free books on Wednesday is good. Reading is fundamental and necessary for everyone. Just lower the prices. I promise you’ll get more business in turn and make more to help the community. Because right now, everyone I’ve come across said it’s become a joke. It’s more of in person online store pricing. Just go to Salvation Army if you want to thrift in the meantime until they get it together, because it’s not how it used to be. And also, a few of the employees need to be trained on how to talk to customers, greet them, and not ignore them during the entire transaction. I didn’t even know the transaction was complete until she told me because she didn’t say a word. I was standing there for a solid 20 seconds before she gave me a look and said “did you need something else?” I said no. She said okay? And then slid my bag to the edge of the counter towards me."
