About the Business
The Slater Family Ice Arena, located at 417 North Mercer Road in Bowling Green, Ohio, is a beloved institution on the campus of Bowling Green State University. Established in 1967 and named in honor of the Slater Family in 2017, the arena has been serving the community for over 50 years. Home to the NCAA Division I Falcon Hockey team, as well as several local hockey teams and skating clubs, the arena offers a variety of programs for all ages and skill levels. From public skate sessions to learn to skate lessons, youth hockey, figure skating, and adult hockey leagues, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The arena is currently undergoing a multi-million-dollar renovation project to enhance the facility and add new amenities, including private suites, concessions, and additional seating. "Slater Family Ice Arena provides a great public skate experience. Visitors have the option to either purchase ice skates on-site or bring their own. It does get pretty packed, so weaving through the crowd while skating was a bit tricky. However, we had a great time as beginners."

"Had a lot of fun for the short time that I was able to skate! Ended up falling and twisting my ankle after 25 minutes when I tried to skate. It was my first time trying to skate since the late 1990s. Never was very good at it, apparently still not good at it! The skate rental, payment and food stand is on your left as you go in the door. The main ice is further down the corridor and through the doors on your left. I couldn't find a map or anything online so hope that helps!"
"I love hockey! This is a great place to watch a game. The fan involvement is fantastic. I loved the athletic band. We went on Teddy Bear night. Fans threw bears on the ice which were donated to Children’s Hospital. The old photos on the wall were neat to look at."
"There are so many fun things to do with your family and friends. Fun For ALL AGES. The games are energetic and fun. Tours can be given for having little ones on mites and Mini mites. I really recommend going here!"
