Terrace Park Emergency Services, located at 428 Elm Avenue in Terrace Park, Ohio, is a health institution with a long history of being an all-volunteer life squad. Residents take pride in this tradition and new members are always welcome to join this amazing organization. Training classes are offered every year in the fall.
Members do not have to stay or sleep at the Fire Station when on duty, as they can go about their daily routines as long as they are within a few minutes of the station. A pager will be issued to notify members of squad runs. Training is provided for emergency procedures, but does not require a medical degree.
Members work together to stabilize patients and get them to the hospital. The institution provides free training in EMS, CPR, uniforms, books, and other materials. Additionally, members receive free membership at the Miami Athletic Club in Milford.
The scheduler prepares a monthly schedule based on input from members, and shifts can be traded with other members. Despite the challenging nature of the training, instructors make classes interesting and fun with real-world situations. Extra lifting assistance is available when needed, and mutual aid agreements are in place for serious or complicated emergencies.
Terrace Park Emergency Services relies on volunteers to provide critical services to the community. Without the support of members, the institution may lose its services, leading to increased costs and response times from neighboring communities. It is important for individuals to volunteer and keep these services going to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
