"Thursday of last week I went to the ER to get treated and when I got there they tried to sit me on a bed that had blood and hair on it. It still had the gown from the previous patient on it. I had to point out that the bed was dirty before they cleaned it up. Then when it came to getting my blood drawn, the RN put ultrasound gel on my vein and used the machine to see my vein. I have great veins, easy to see so this was not necessary. Then he proceeded to try and put the I.V cath into my arm through the ultrasound gel. No way man. I refused the I.V. We were there for 5 hours just so they could tell me they had no clue what was wrong with me. I have severe sinusitis. This was the most horrible experience I've had there."

"To label the whole hospital "terrible" would probably be a mistake. For instance, the Maternity Ward is actually quite good. I think what they've done here is model the hospital around the needs of their largest contributors - the Amish in the area. Amish have a lot of babies, so much attention is given to the Maternity Ward. Amish often view accidents as "God's will", so if they die in the Emergency Room, there will never be any litigation and it won't reduce the amount of support coming from the Amish community. But for the rest of us, this hospital is a huge insult to our community. Literally everyone I know has a nightmare story about this place. Even our local school district has finally seen the incompetence and is discussing transporting all injured high school athletes to other locations, instead of enduring the complete incompetence of the Emergency Room, like an injured football player did recently. It is the worst care around, for the highest prices. If you're lucky enough to make it home, you will then receive multiple bills from every department, when other hospitals will combine everything into one bill. You get one bill paid, and another shows up for something you already think you took care of. And if you're on a tight budget and can't pay immediately, you get sent to collections very quickly. And, if you complain about anything, you are made out to be the bad guy, even though you or a loved one just suffered through a terrible ordeal exasperated by their incompetence. And yet, with all this being said, Holmes County needs this hospital. Please do better Pomerene Hospital. Presently, you are so far from being "One of the Best Small Community Hospital in the Nation" like your false advertising states. Joel Pomerene is rolling around in his grave."

"Friendly, caring and efficient staff. As a patient, nowadays it's underrated to be listened to and cared for; Pomerene Hospital went above and beyond to assure patients medical comfort."

"On March 29th 2023, I brought my dad to the ER. He had chest congestion very bad. The doctor and nurses were wonderful who were working in the ER. The doctor in ER was going to admit my dad for pneumonia.. my husband and I came home. Then my dad calls us saying that they're not going to keep him . My husband talked to the ER doctor and was informed that the 3rd floor doctor would not admit him because he said he needed a nursing facility. Not going to happen!!! My dad is 100 years old and this family is going to take care of him!!! My dad even said on the way home he thought it was terrible that they wouldn't admit an old man who is sick! This happened in the evening at about 9:30."

"I was seen in the emergency room on 02/02/2023. The medical staff here is very comforting. Every staff member was very nice and helpful the entire time. While I was waiting I was asked multiple times if I needed anything and if I was doing okay. I’ve never been to a hospital as great as this one before. Thank you to all the Doctors and Nurses here."
