"I took the STNA class at Touching Hearts Changing Lives in November, 2022. I passed the state exam for Ohio on the first try in December. I highly recommend this class. It prepared me well for the state exam. It was also a good refresher for knowledge and skills in general. Nurse Cyndi is masterful at teaching, the in-class assignments were useful, and the clinical rotations were just right. It is a tough class. I took the 2 week version, in which you are in class or doing clinical rotations for 8 hours a day, M-F, for two weeks. Only half of the students who started my class ended up graduating. You must keep up with the work. There is a lot of material to cover in only two weeks. Get a head start on the vocabulary homework. When you sign up, they will give you the vocabulary homework for the entire class. Start that right away, before the class begins, so you don’t end up doing it at the end. And you MUST arrive on time, every time. They are strict about that. You cannot be even a minute late. Or else, you risk getting kicked out of the class. You know the saying: “Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable.” It is a worthwhile class. When I was doing the skills portion of the state exam, the nurse interrupted me, while I was in the middle of performing a skill. She asked me, “Did you take the class from Touching Hearts Changing Lives?” I said, “Yes, ma’am.” She turned to her assistant and said, “I knew it. Their graduates are always so well prepared.” To prepare even more, get a textbook and study it before you take the class. I recommend either “Hartman’s Nursing Assistant Care” or “The Red Cross Nursing Assistant Text Book.” Either book is good: with simple, direct writing that is easy to understand, and with plenty of pictures to show the skills and topics. You can get either book at Amazon, or through your public library (for free). Also, there are plenty of videos of CNA / STNA skills on YouTube. Definitely, you should consider taking the STNA class at Touching Hearts Changing Lives. It will prepare you well to pass the state exam. The school is at a new location in the Toledo, Ohio area (at 5808 Monroe St, Sylvania, OH 43560). It is inside the white building that is next to the Wendy’s. Parking is in the back."
