Parkview DeKalb Hospital

"The ER is the worst place I’ve ever been. I’m a 19 year old single mom with my first baby. The first time we took him here was when he had covid at 3 months old. Not only did we sit in the waiting room forever but the staff are very rude. Every time I take my son in I’m praying and hoping he doesn’t have rsv they act as if I’m doing something wrong by bringing him in. He has had covid, croupe, and bronchitis. Each time we have brought him here is only because it’s the only hospital close to us giving we live in a small town. If your baby is sick I would not recommend taking them here. The ER or the walk in clinic. Not everybody can wait a month while their child has covid to book a doctors appointment that’s going to be a month out! They make you feel terrible. Everything is rushed! The only people I have found that are nice are the X-ray techs. The nurses are terrible. This place seriously makes me dread taking my sick son to a hospital to be checked out. The younger nurses are amazing. The older ones are again, terrible. Just no. Absolutely not."

"I've been a patient within Parkview for most of my life. My family Dr that takes care of my family is in Parkview. I recently had my third child at Parkview (PRMC) and have always had amazing care and never felt as if my care wasn't in any of the doctors best interest until I had to go to the ER (Parkview Dekalb) for a slight pain in my chest ( turns out it was just a pulled muscle ) that my family dr diagnosed me with. I understood why they would rush to do some of the most expensive tests that they could think of but did not understand why the most simple of answers wasn't even considered or looked into. I was ok with the results that they came up with saying that there wasn't anything wrong with me beyond what I was already aware of. But the problem I had was how they seemed to be very concerned about my well being all the way up to the point that I said I didn't want to be kept in the hospital for an unknown amount of time for additional "test". I recently had a baby and was informed there are no accommodations for my newborn to stay with me in the hospital. I felt as if as soon as the ER doctor realized I wasn't going to be staying any longer their entire demenour changed and I wasn't necessarily a concern for them any longer and I was therefore rushed out. I had my discharge papers moments later and after telling them I have massive anxiety they continued to remind me of the "risk of death" even though I showed zero signs of any actual issue. If this is the way they act when someone doesn't want to follow their requests then I now understand why some people avoid the hospital and would rather take the chance with their health."

"I am just so hurt. Took my son to ER on Tuesday afternoon. He was very sick. They swabbed him for flu, strep, and covid. He tested positive for influenza B. Here is the problem. I as for blood work as he has an immune disorder. No they would not do many because he didn't need it. On saturday early morning he was brought by EMS. Now he is in parkview fighting for his life. He is on life support. Please listen to your patients"

"My daughter Latoya Shannon had a appointment due to cancer ,she was not treated right .They stuck her 8 times blew her veins and was laughing about it Its one thing to hear about this hospital but to experience the care is so hurtful. I pray this type of care do not continue with people of color. Parkveiws in Fortwayne IN they are so loving and caring thats what helps a cancer patient heal quicker"

"Really sad you would close an amazing OB Department, I have labored and delivered 3 of my children at Dekalb and what a shame that mothers will be forced to deliver at places they aren't familiar with, not to mention having to travel further. You should be very ashamed with yourselves! The staff was phenomenal and I am praying for all of them right now being blindsided by a corrupt, greedy company!"
