"Ok, I do not really know what is going on with Sage Dental, but what I do know is that I am not pleased at all. Yesterday I needed to replace my retainer since I lost the top from apartment searching. I called the office trying to explain that I needed the top retainer made because I have a stubborn tooth, I know how my smile looks when I leave it on, and when I go a day without it, it will likely start to open up, for which they charged me $208. I asked, "Is it ok if I pay $208 on February 12 since I have an appointment that day, including any extra charge if I have one too because I’m financially low at the moment?”. Unfortunately, they were more concerned with the money than my statement. The lady said, "If I don’t have the full income, I can pay 104 to get it made today and the other 104 to pick it up, or I would have to wait until my next appointment to get the retainer.” I felt unheard when I clearly mentioned, “If I wait that long, then my gap will be back again after just coming out of my braces last week prior to the current situation.” Since I was at work, I managed to borrow the money from my boss. As embarrassing as it may sound, we agree to pay him back on my next paycheck. I left work early from Parkland to drive down to the office. When I got there, the lady, who also spoke on the phone, helped me out by saying, “I only have to pay 104 since it’s only the top I’m replacing.” Thank you again! Ms. The issue came when it was time for me to get the retainer at 3:30. To the lady who did my retainer, even when she was nice, none of the less, her dismissive behavior was offensive to me. I tried to explain to her that the retainer does not fit and is loose on the right side of my mouth; she is pressing it hard on my teeth and says, “It doesn’t look like it's loose because I’m looking at it,” like she’s inside my mouth and knows what I’m feeling. Then I explain that my earlier retainer felt tight and comfortable, which is the sensation I was aiming for, especially after going a whole day without. Again, I understand my gum is inflamed, and I heard it all before: “You need to floss!” which I do every night. But I can tell that regardless of her wearing a mask while smiling, she started to get annoyed and was still being dismissive, not listening to understand my frustration but listening to respond. For one, I borrowed money, left work super early, drove down far away, went back to work, and came back to the office again, just to get a retainer that’s loose on the right, pressing my gum sharply. When I speak, it hurts the front of my gum, and it’s cutting the right side of my mouth. I have been a patient for 2 years, and I have noticed a major change. The earlier staff I started with had top-notch customer service; they cared, listened, and were imperturbable. My doctor (Dr. Luiz Barbosa) is no longer there, and he did not get to see the end result of all the smiles he changed. This lady who did my retainer is a new lady who I never met before. The earlier lady who did my retainer and braces removal Monday of last week did horrible, too, because she was in a hurry and not fully prepared. I almost vomited just by how she shoved the purple retainer maker inside of my mouth, but I relinquished because the end result was nice and fit well. After all the money I spent there out of pocket and never being a troubled customer, I am highly disappointed with Sage services lately. My day was horrible because of the mistreatment. Even the lady at the front office could see the expression of disenchantment on my face. I spent all day going to every place I might have lost it. You may say I'm exaggerating, but let's be honest: in this day and age, money is not easy. Living expenses are up the roof. Imagine you've waited 2 years+, paying out of pocket all dental expenses, to finally get the moment you've been waiting for and have to wait a whole month to get a retainer, and possibly have to put another braces in to fix your smile back because of $208 when you only have one week off your braces removal. I beg your pardon."
"I went to Sage Dental for the first time a few weeks ago. X-rays were done and the dentist initially said something like, "beautiful teeth", but then when he looked in my mouth, he insisted I had 4 cavities for which I needed to come back to have filled. I also couldn't get my cleaning that day because the dentist preferred to have cleanings done on filling day. So I made another appointment, for which I needed to leave work early again. I made the appointment for 3:30pm, and was told I NEEDED to be on time so I could get the cleaning and fillings. On appointment day, I arrived at 3:23 and notified the lady at the front desk. I just knew there was going to be an issue though when they didn't take me back until 3:50. When I got back to the dentist chair, one employee asked me, "so since you're late, when do you want to come back for your fillings?" I informed her I was not late and had been there since 3:23. She then just said she would schedule the fillings for my next appointment in 6 months. No apology. No service recovery. Now, I kind of had a funny feeling about whether I even had cavities the whole time, but the fact that my alledged cavities could wait 6 months definitely made me more suspicious. I got my cleaning, which was ok, and got a bill for $100 in the mail the next day. Needless to say, ill be switching dentist offices."
"Update: after calling my insurance for a different issue, I asked the claim adjuster about this claim and she said that they requested additional information for this claim but never received it. She went through all the documents and found some helpful information that was resent to another adjuster for review and they paid the dentist additional funds. Why didn’t Sage do that??? Now I call my insurance for every bill I get from Sage. They don’t bother to follow up with the insurance they just bill you instead. And from what I saw on the claims, they over bill the insurance and you. I was given a price to pay out of pocket for a pulled tooth and was told the insurance was to pay the rest. Well that never happened. I got a bill for the balance months after. I called my insurance company and they said the codes the dentist office billed was not covered. The front desk employee who handles the billing was rude and condescending. And after calling several times and going to the office for help, I was told they would speak with the doctor and get back to me but that never happened. Now I’m stuck paying this bill. Definitely never going back to this dentist office."
"This place is a joke. I made an appointment for my son. They called me, gathered information, date of birth, insurance and the whole 9. Mind you, I am a nurse who works in a busy office. They harassed me with confirmations of my appointment (3 texts, 3 emails). We show up, and the dentist they booked me with “doesn’t see pediatrics”. And nothing available for pediatrics until November. I’m sorry, what?! Concessions should have been made. I left work early, pulled my kid from school early and for what? If you can’t get an appointment right or review charts ahead of time.. I certainly don’t want you touching my kid! Good luck to anyone going here!"
