"Walgreens, depending on the location, is the only pharmacy I am aware of where you MIGHT be able to purchase syringes over the counter without a prescription or bottle of insulin. Technically, it is legal for all pharmacies in the United States to sell insulin syringes without a prescription (presuming the person articulates that they are using them for insulin-related injections and not for...."Other uses"). However, so far, in Florida, (& more accurately, in Orlando, Florida), I have yet to find an in-person pharmacy (online being the exception, in particular: eBay, Amazon, Pet Supply Stores, Medical Supplies/wholesalers/private online retailers), who will even CONSIDER selling ANYONE insulin syringes without a prescription, even if you have a bottle of insulin in hand, proof of your diabetic diagnosis, an ID card proving your over the age of 18, and knowing exactly what gauge/number of CC's or units you need the syringe to hold/brand/quantity-some states will only allow 2 10 packs & a photo ID showing your over 18 that they will take a photo copy of, and some allow a box, which comes with 10 individually wrapped 10 packs of syringes- obviously equalling 100. However, if you can find a Walgreens pharmacy that's actually open (most locations' hours have been significantly reduced despite the actual store being open longer, and almost ALL 24 hour Walgreens have changed their regular store hours, as well as pharmacy hours. Meaning: they are no longer 24 hour stores anymore, for some reason. I only know of ONE 24/hr Walgreens WITH a 24/hr pharmacy in all of Orange AND Seminole Counties!), it's still up to the head pharmacist wether they will sell them to you or not. Some stores will sell them to you on one day, and at the same location, they will refuse the sale on a different day for no apparent reason. Sometimes, it's even the same pharmacist deciding to decline the transaction. I know this is odd, because I am not the only person who has had this experience. Many others have told me similar stories about multiple locations. Even still, without a local needle exchange and clearer laws about the sale of insulin syringes in place, at least you have a CHANCE of being able to get them at a Walgreens pharmacy. Just make sure you bring your photo ID. In conclusion, to save you time, trouble, and gas, just order them online from Amazon. You don't need an ID or insulin or a prescription. Just a payment method and delievery address. Much easier, 24/hr availability (although you may have to wait 24-48 hrs for free shipping), but it's a gatuntee. You can get as many as you want, whenever you want, and never have to leave home to get them."
