About the Business

Big Cypress Bend Boardwalk

Located in Naples, Florida, the Big Cypress Bend Boardwalk is a popular tourist attraction within the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park. As the largest state park in Florida, Fakahatchee is known for its unique plant and animal species that cannot be found anywhere else in the continental United States.

Visitors to the park can explore the wilderness and enjoy activities such as hiking along the cleared tram roads that were created during the land's logging days. The Big Cypress Bend Boardwalk is one of the main use areas within the park, offering a scenic and peaceful walk through the stunning natural surroundings.

Please note that as of March 13, 2024, the main entrance at Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park will be under maintenance, so visitors may experience slight delays entering the park. However, the park remains open for visitors to enjoy and explore at their leisure. Don't miss the opportunity to experience the beauty and tranquility of the Big Cypress Bend Boardwalk and the rest of Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park.

"One of the best spots in the Everglades. Free to access and lots of parking. Because it's a narrow boardwalk instead of a trail you get up close with the plant life of the Everglades. Grass, mangroves, and palm trees come within a few feet of you, and you'd never believe you're just a few hundred yards from the main road. I only saw a few birds and no gators but the up close experience more than makes up for it."

"Great, short in and out trail where you can truly experience the local nature. We saw and alligator, a few lizards, and lots of large grasshoppers. Large variety of trees and plants with boards explaining what you are seeing along the way. The best spot so see the alligators is at the pond at the end. We saw one up close to the boardwalk and heard several more in the distance. It was hot, but the trail is shaded pretty much the whole way which was nice."

"I've lived here over 28 years but have never visited before. The boardwalk is very nice but will even be better when they complete the expansion project. There's an amazing amount of wildlife here in spite of the number of tourists that drop in here on a regular basis. I recommend a visit to this roadside attraction."

"A lovely walk through the habitat on a well maintained boardwalk. Saw several different wildlife including alligators, heron, and a young bald eagle. They are currently raising money to enchance and expand the visitor center & boardwalk. Please consider leaving a donation to help maintain this little oasis."
