"Went snorkeling around Battery Burchsted and saw two large manatees! We also jumped off the rocks. Water was great. Just be careful as you can cut yourself while climbing."

"Old Fort in the water, destroyed by a hurricane in the 1930's. Lots of people snorkel here. Bring your dive flag"

"Battery Burchstead had several huge cannons on the beach, we used to play on in the 1970s. I always wondered what happened to them. But I found out. The beach eroded and they're out in the water. In these two pictures, taken in 1970, you can see us playing on Battery Burchstead, when it was on the shore. Look closely at the circular wall on the beach. Today, it's about 100 yards out in the water. I drew a red arrow to indicate the circular wall, same one seen on the beach in the old pic. So you can still visit it! If you take a boat out there, look for what's left of this huge cannon just under the water. Take a pic for me, and post it here. I wonder if it's totally rusted and gone by now."
