Don Pedro Island State Park is a stunning natural oasis located at 8450 Placida Road in Placida, Florida. This park, which is a popular tourist attraction, is part of a chain of barrier islands along Florida's Gulf Coast. The park can be accessed by private boat, with boaters able to dock on the bay side of the island.
Visitors to Don Pedro Island State Park can enjoy a pristine 1-mile white sandy beach, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and shelling. The park also offers a large pavilion for picnics, hiking trails, a kayak launch, a fishing dock, and a picnic shelter on the Cape Haze Peninsula.
Please note that as of November 11, 2022, the land base of the park is open, while the island itself remains closed. Due to a collapsed culvert, the canoe launch road is closed to vehicular traffic until further notice. Additionally, the ferry service to Don Pedro Island has been suspended.

"Great beach to take your boat to and hang out for the day. This is a state park so no alcohol or dogs are allowed on the beach. There is a big covered Pavillion with several spaced out picnic tables and one large grill to cook on. They have nice size clean bathrooms as well. The only down fault is there aren't many boat slips. The water is also very shallow in spots so be careful when you are boating back there. We usually see a few manatees or dolphins on are way to the slips."
