About Us

The Nature Conservancy's Disney Wilderness Preserve is located at 2700 Scrub Jay Trail in Poinciana, Florida, United States. This park is home to over 1,000 species of plants and animals, making it an essential part of the Everglades ecosystem. The preserve contains 3,500 acres of restored wetlands that help filter out nutrients and replenish groundwater.
Although the preserve is not affiliated with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, The Walt Disney Company provided funds for restoration and wildlife monitoring. The preserve stands as a testament to Walt Disney's love of nature and the power of cooperation and innovation.
Visitors can enjoy parking on site and explore the beautiful landscapes of the preserve. The Walt Disney Company's gift helped create this preserve almost 30 years ago, preserving rare upland habitat and protecting endangered plants and wildlife.
The preserve offers volunteer opportunities, educational programs, and community outreach. Visitors can tag their preserve visits on Instagram with #DisneyWildernessPreserve to have their photos featured. The preserve is a model of environmental stewardship and conservation, offsetting development by conserving environmentally significant lands.
With breeding pairs of red-cockaded woodpeckers and thriving native storks, the preserve is a haven for wildlife. Controlled burns are conducted to safeguard habitats needing regular intervals of fire. Visitors can help continue conservation efforts and protect valuable habitat in Florida by supporting The Nature Conservancy's work.

"Free hiking trail in the Kissimmee area. It is closed on Sunday's. Wide open trails so best to do when it is not spring or summer. Muddy and flooded in some spots. It's worth checking out if you are in the area. Very easy terrain too."
"It's surprisingly amazing, easy trail surrounded by beautiful trees and plants. We spotted a couple unique birds (a red mark on the head) with their baby wondering on the grass, it's a well managed park and very healing environment."
"The Nature Conservancy's Disney Wilderness Preserve is a beautiful place to appreciate and visit. It has an interesting history. Very pretty and peaceful. Please note this is a nature PRESERVE and not a nature park. Activities and facilities are limited, by design. There are beautiful trails, clean bathrooms, and friendly staff. Admission is free. Ample parking. Highly recommended."
"Great trails for all the family! The entrance and parking are all completely free. There are also electric vehicle charging points available. They have very clean restrooms available at the start of the trails. The trails have plenty of options for all ages and abilities. Don't miss the views over the lake. We saw lots of wildlife and were lucky enough to find a friendly corn snake on the path. Such a beautiful place away from the busy world. Definitely recommend you visit!"
"Lovely quiet place to visit with 4 trails from the very short up to about 4 miles. Take bug spray and good shoes as many parts were flooded on the paths . Toilets at the start/finish and ample parking"
