About the Business
Duette Preserve, located at 2649 Rawls Road in Duette, Florida, is the largest Preserve in Manatee County, covering over 21,000 acres. This beautiful park in the northeastern part of the county is home to a diverse range of game and non-game animals, including several species of special concern and endangered/threatened species such as the Florida scrub jay, Florida panther, and Eastern indigo snake.
Visitors to Duette Preserve can enjoy hiking, biking, and horseback riding on designated trails, with parking available at three different locations. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset for pedestrian, bicycle, and equestrian traffic, except on certain weekends when it is closed for the Hunt Program.
Those interested in primitive camping can pitch a tent on Friday and Saturday nights during non-hunt weekends for $20 plus tax per site, with a maximum of 6 people per site. Horseback riding is also allowed on designated trails, but horses must have proof of a negative Coggins Test.

"Had the opportunity to take the covered wagon tour with a guide offered by Manatee County and Manatee County Game and Wildlife . The tour is four hours long and you will get to visit Areas of Oak Hammocks, Prairies and the viewing tower. Maybe you will observe the Local Gopher Tortoise population, Florida Scrub Jays, Hawks, Owls and Deer. Also the local Florida Panther, seldom seen but live in the area. The tour is free but you must make a reservation."
"Couldn’t get in! Open only on Sat from 11am-2pm ….why bother! Rediculous!"
"Super nice and clean preserve. Spent the day there and only saw one piece of trash. Beautiful oaks and pines. I saw many Kestrels and hawks, plus loads of song birds. I made sure my trip did not interfere with a scheduled hunt, and that they would be open. 4X4 trails were clearly marked. Mostly just deep sand, one bumpy hill climb which I chose not to try. Not a lot of water features, but a good time for sure."
