"An interesting short boardwalk overlooking a calm creek that drains from Paynes Prairie. To get there, The long way: head 4.8 miles down the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail until you get to Prairie Creek. The short way: head East down University Ave. to the intersection where Florida State Road 20 branches off to the right. Take Florida 20 down to SE 60th Terrace (aka SE 30th St for some reason). SE 60th Terrace is about equidistant between Earl P. Powers park and Kate's Fish Camp, but on the other side of the road (so, if your heading east on Florida 20, SE 60th Terrace will be on the right). Slowly head down SE 60th Terrace, and you will find a small parking area on the left, and entry to the paved Hawthorn Trail. Head East down the Hawthorne Trail. About 0.4 mi down you will get to Prairie Creek, and see the boardwalk. It's a wonderful place to enjoy the quiet flow of the creek and listen to the birds calling out. Lots of folks fish around the area too."
