About the Business

Highlands Hammock State Park

Highlands Hammock State Park, located at 5931 Hammock Road in Sebring, Florida, is a popular tourist attraction and park known for its diverse plant and animal life. The park is home to more rare and endemic species than any other Florida State Park, making it a unique and important conservation area.

Visitors can explore the park's nine trails, including an elevated boardwalk through a cypress swamp, where they may encounter wildlife such as Florida panthers, black bears, deer, alligators, and various bird species. The park also offers a 3-mile bike loop and tram rides for a more leisurely experience.

One of the highlights of the park is the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum, which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum showcases the history of the Great Depression and the young men who built Florida's eight CCC parks. Highlands Hammock State Park has a number of New Deal era structures and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Please note that the Cypress Swamp Trail historic catwalk is currently closed for repairs, and the use of ATVs, UTVs, and drones is prohibited in the park. Despite these restrictions, visitors can still enjoy the beauty of the park and experience the Real Florida at its best.

"This is one of the best parks I have been to in Florida. Very calming and relaxing atmosphere. I loved looking up at the gigantic trees and soaking in the spectacular sounds of nature at its finest."

"this park was amazing We saw a while lot of wild life and we had fun at the shop. The museum was awesome. But while camping we encountered cows that kept mooing and we got no sleep. Half of the board walk was closed."

"Thoroughly enjoyed this state park. $6 entry fee to get in. We hiked several of the trails and saw lots of beautiful views. Dog friendly except for the Cypress Swamp trail, no dogs allowed on that boardwalk for some reason."

"We really enjoyed spending time at the park. The museum gives an in-depth history with illustrations and artifacts about the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) whose members built this park and many others across the country back in the mid to late 1930’s. The trails are well kept and are great for leisure walks. We saw people riding bikes and jogging. There is also an area for family camping. We’ll definitely come back."
