"Horrible. First of all I am not a complainer. We have stayed at Cheeca Lodge for last 3 years. It had been wonderful until this year. This year has been horrible. We had a cigar/pot smoker staying in the room below us. At 3:00PM everyday we could not use the waterfront balcony because this person started smoking cigars. We let it go because “they” might not of known high end hotel etiquette. Then at 8:00 PM we could not use the waterfront balcony because the person staying in the room below us starting smoking pot. We contacted the manager and they said they would send out “security”. The next day, same thing. Contacted management and they said there is nothing they could do unless the “caught them in the act”. And if they did they would have a room cleaning charge of $250. After the 3rd night and the same timing of events we had our room changed. The following day we see the same guy, smoking his cigar as if he was in pig heaven. Cheeca Lodge was an extraordinary place but this year has fallen far below high end hotel/resort. We will find somewhere else to go next year."
"I had an exceptional experience at this oceanfront hotel! The panoramic view of the vast ocean was simply mesmerizing, creating a sense of tranquility and awe. The refined ambiance and sophisticated decor added to the overall charm of the hotel. The highlight was definitely the picturesque canal with its serene blue waters, providing a peaceful retreat within the hotel grounds. The staff were attentive and hospitable, ensuring a truly memorable stay. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a luxurious oceanfront getaway with impeccable service and breathtaking views."
"I had a very odd and shocking experience here. My family has been going to this place for years. The recent years have seen a very marked shift in the quality of service. Many of the staff are kind and nice, but clearly not trained in the service industry. I'm not super particular, but the staff is very inexperienced and do things that are really weird for a hotel or this cost. Their check out time is 11am and check in is 4pm. My son was having some stomach issues and I called the front desk to say we might be a little delayed getting out, but we'd do our best. The staff told me that security would escort us out if we did not vacate the room at 11am! I got pretty rattled by this response and went to talk to the manager. She said that my interpretation of "escorted out by security" was extreme. I asked what other interpretation could be had here and she insisted that there are two sides to every story. It was a bizarre and surreal experience given we were spending nearly $6k at this resort. Several times at the restaurant we needed an extra chair to accommodate a larger group (we come to this hotel each year with 14 family members) and we had to beg and negotiate to move some chairs to a larger table. I could go on and on but it's not worth my time. Again, many staff are nice and they doing their best, I blame the management and owner in providing zero guidance or training. Avoid this place."
"Its unfortunate that I have to write this review at all as I have been going to this venue since I was a child and decided to have my wedding there based on great past experiences. I would say overall, it was a decent experience except that they made a mistake of almost $17,000. Up until 3 days before the wedding, and I have multiple email chains to prove it, I was under the impression that I have finished my deposit schedule and was completely paid. 3 days before the wedding, when most of my family was at the venue, I was informed that I owed an additional $17,000. When I got the the venue, I talked to the staff and was informed that it was a human error. I tried to talk to them and work out a deal, but was told that I either sign or they won't have the wedding. So I had no choice but to sign. The day after the wedding, I contacted multiple people including the GM of the resort to discuss because I think this is not the right way to operate a business. I was willing to work out a deal, or pay part or anything, but I was played, never called or reached out to. My word of warning is make sure you have the pricing but even then, they will bait and switch you. Then they don't even have the decency to call or discuss with someone who brought well over $150,000 to their resort in one weekend. The fact that they didn't call or make it right shows to me that this is how they operate their business. They have no respect for their life long customers."
"Just returned from a week in the keys and we LOVED our 2 night stay in Islamorada at Cheeca. We splurged on an oceanfront suite and we were not disappointed! The view was amazing and the outdoor tub was so nice. The pools were all lovely but the chairs on the beach were our favorite spot! There were a lot of people staying there but it never once felt crowded. The grounds around the whole resort were absolutely gorgeous. We also loved the location and found it super easy to walk to local restaurants or take the complimentary shuttle!! We will definitely be returning to Cheeca!"
