About the Business

Humanitarians of Florida Inc

Humanitarians of Florida Inc. is a veterinary care institution located at 1031 North Commerce Terrace in Lecanto, Florida, United States. Our dedicated Board Members are all volunteers who are committed to alleviating the suffering of animals through donations and direct help programs. We specialize in small animal Spay & Neuter services to promote responsible pet ownership.

To ensure the safety of our staff, clients, and patients, we require all pets to be up to date with their rabies vaccine. Florida law mandates that all dogs and household cats 12 weeks of age or older must be vaccinated against rabies to prevent the spread of this fatal disease. We strictly adhere to the Rabies Prevention and Control in Domestic Animals and Wildlife Act.

Payment for services is due at the time of treatment, and we accept various forms of payment for your convenience. We also offer CareCredit as a payment option, but it is important to make timely payments to avoid high interest rates and fees.

For the safety of all visitors, dogs must be on a leash and under control at all times, while cats must be brought in a suitable carrier. We strive to provide the best care for your pets while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all.

"My friend brought her young, very sick female dog to Humanitarian last week. Her dog (a sweet pit mix) had pyometra, which can be fatal if not treated immediately. When she arrived, she met Angela, a front office worker, who took immediate interest in the dog and realized she needed urgent care. After the vet examination, it was determined that, without immediate surgery the dog would die. My friend has no job and no money so she asked me to help with the payment. Angela and the staff worked hard to bring the cost down. We were able to cover the cost of the surgery to keep the dog alive. At another vet the cost would have been triple. Angela and the staff were so caring and so kind, only concerned to help the dog stay alive by providing the needed surgery immediately. The dog is doing beautifully and will live a healthy life thanks to the expertise, commitment and caring for the pets of lower income pet owners that Humanitarian provides. WE are so blessed to have them in our community. Thank you to all the staff at Humanitarians of Florida in Crystal River."

"Wonderful experience with both of our cats! Our kitten got spayed and it was the smallest incision I've ever seen! Very good work. She was up and around in two days!"

"I just had to have my fur baby put to sleep. Was a very hard time for me and I must say that from the 1st phone call, throughout the whole process, everyone was so very sweet and compassionate. Could not have asked for nicer people! It made the whole situation much easier on me."
