About the Business

Welcome to Latino Kids and Family Mental Health. Your mental health is our priority. Our center was designed to meet the needs of Latino families in Florida and Puerto Rico. We have several psychotherapists ready to provide you with excellent service and, above all, with the respect you deserve.

Latino families face numerous challenges that can often be overwhelming. That's why you need a competent team you can open your heart to and who can support you in navigating the difficulties you may be facing. At Latino Kids and Family, we will take care of your mental health and be with you and your family at every stage of your life.

Latino Kids and Family Mental Health was born out of the need for mental health services for Latino families in Tampa, FL, and Puerto Rico. As more and more families come to the United States for various reasons, I believe it is necessary for families to have access to mental health services that are appropriate and culturally sensitive. My wish is that in this place, you can find the emotional tools your family needs to live a full, peaceful, and happy life.

Life is complicated, and even the strongest and smartest people need help sometimes. A therapeutic process offers a unique opportunity for transformation and growth by guiding you to reflect on your problems, challenge your fears, and develop a greater awareness of your current reality.

In therapy, I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental environment to help you learn, grow, and heal. I use your own strengths and self-efficacy to improve your emotional well-being. Within the therapeutic approach, I highlight cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused brief therapy. Working from the Here and Now, my commitment is to create a safe therapeutic relationship, free of prejudices and framed in respect.

I hold a master's and a doctorate in psychological counseling from the Interamerican University Metropolitan Campus of Puerto Rico. I am a licensed psychologist in Puerto Rico, and in the state of Florida, I am licensed as a psychologist and as a clinical mental health counselor.

In the field of psychology and mental health, I have expanded my university studies by certifying in several areas of interest: In the area of pre and perinatal psychology, for which I have a great passion, I hold a certification in perinatal education under the Baby Empowerment Birth Education method under the guidance of Dr. Jill Chase and under the American Pre and Perinatal Psychology Association with Dr. Thomas Verny. I am a certified Loss Doula by Still Birthday University, a perinatal educator trained in the Lamaze method, and basic and advanced training in maternal mental health with Post Partum Stress International (PSI). I am certified in maternal mental health PMH-C. I also completed a certification in Psychoperinatality in Argentina, Perinatal Psychology in Chile, as well as numerous courses related to perinatal psychology in Mexico and Spain. I have received education in grief and loss processes.

In the trauma area, I have taken several trainings, including basic and advanced EMDR approved by EMDRIA, making me an EMDRIA-approved EMDR therapist.

In the child area, I certified in Infant Development and Early Intervention with the state of Florida and in autism at the Medical Sciences Campus of Puerto Rico. I completed studies in Applied Behavior Analysis and ABA Intervention in Autism and other Developmental Disorders with ABA Spain, as well as numerous trainings in child mental health.

I am proficient in psychometric evaluation, socio-emotional and behavioral assessments, evaluations for immigration processes, adoption, and bariatric surgery.

I also hold certifications in cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, forensic cognitive neuroscience, and military counseling. Therefore, my therapeutic model is based on acceptance and empathy.

I am a Co-founder of the Association of Pre and Perinatal Psychology of Puerto Rico and Co-President of the Florida chapter of PostPartum Support International. I was the coordinator of the Puerto Rico chapter of Peaceful Parenting (an international organization focused on educating parents about peaceful parenting strategies). I also frequently collaborate for print media, magazines, and television.

I contributed to the book "The Contribution of Qualitative Research to the Field of Health in Puerto Rico" and am the author of the book "From the Belly to the Heart: A Manual for Children who have Lost a Sibling." Additionally, I belong to several professional organizations.

"The reason why I am giving this rating is because my daughter had an appointment on a weekend that I confirmed going to. But as we can’t prevent sickness, the night before the appointment I got sick with a stomach bug. I texted the therapist like at 3 or 4 in the morning stating we can’t go. So after we all got better I called back to see about rescheduling. I have yet to get a response and it’s been weeks. So I decided to look else where as that’s unprofessional. As things happen especially with sickness I shouldn’t be held accountable for something I can’t control. Thankfully I was able to find services elsewhere for my child."
